Closuro of tho Pre4chool The Trustees had been aware for some time that the Pre-school would be forced to leave the premises it had occupied for many years. Wrth fewer children enrolling for sessions, increasing payroll costs and unable to locate suitable, affordable altemative premises, the Trustees took the decision to close the Pre-school. It stopped running playgroup sessions at the end of the Summer term of 2025. Recruitment and Appolntment of Management Committee The Management Committee oversaw the running of the Pre-school and detemiined its strategic plans. The Constitution decrees that the Committee should consist of a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer who are honorary officers of the Charity, together with a minimum of other committee members, some of whorn may be co-opted from other voluntary organisations or statutory authorities. Under the terms of the Constitution, the Trustees are eligible, in committee, to appoint new Trustees to fill casual vacancies until they can be re-elected at the next Annual General Meeb'ng. The Management Committee are a selection of people from all walks of life with drfferent degrees of experien and expertise. Financial Review The organisation recorded a surplus of income over expenditure of £24,834 for the year ended 28 February 2025, (2024: £17.266). Income has increased by £17,763 whilst costs remained fairly static apart from a further rise in staff costs of £5,700 and significant correction to the gas recharged to the Charity by ts landlord amounb'ng to some £3,600.
WILLINGTON PRE4CHOOL Trustees, Report For the Year Ended 28 February 2025 Aims, Objectives and activities The overall aims and objectives of the organisation were totally focused on public benefit and can be summarised as follows: °To enhance the development and education of children primarily under statutory school age by encouraging parents to understand and provide for the needs of their children through communty groups.. Infften planning activities, the Committee considered the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. The main activities consisted of.. Offering appropriate play facilities and training courses, together with the right of parents to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of such groups. ensuring that such groups offer opportunities for all children, regardless of race, culture, religion or means. Encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their families and promoting public interest in and recognition of such needs in the local areas. Instigating and adhering to the furthering the aim of the Pre-school Learning Alliance. Achièvements and Perfornianco The Pre-school took in children immediately after their second birthday. During the year under review the Charity ran five, three-hour playgroup mrning sessions a week. Each session was attended by an average of 25 children. The Pre-school also ran five afternoon sessions a week. Each aftemoon session was attended by an average of 20 children. Reserves Policy The Management Committee had established a reserves policy whereby the UnStrICted funds not committed or invested in tsngible fixed assets held by the Charity should be equal to a minimum of 6 months forecast expenditure. The reserves were needed to meet the working capital requirements of the Charity. In addition. funds were designated for specific purposes where appropriate. WILLINGTON PRE-SCHOOL Independent ExaMineS Report to the Trustees of Willington Pre4chool l pOrt on the accounts of the Willington Pre-school, charty no 1022920, for the year ended 28 February 2025, which are set out on pages 5 to 8. Respective Responslbilities of the Trustees and Examlner The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (°the Act"). The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to.. examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act, to follow the applicable Directions given by the Charty Commission (under section 145(5)(bJ of the Act, and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basls of Independent Examlnar's Statement My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charty Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the eviden that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair, view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. Indopendent Examiner's Statement In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which give me cause to believe that in any material respect: accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act,. or the accounts do not accord with the accounting records. I have no conm8 and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to whlch attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
