Combe Preschool Trustees Annual Report 2024 - 25

Combe Preschool operates 5 days a week, from 8.50 – 6.00pm during school term times in the Combe Hub. We have 42 2- 4- year-old children on Preschool roll (up again on last year), and we employ 8 regular staff working with the children, as well as a cleaner and an administrator. Preschool has continued to attract children from Woodstock, Long Hanborough and surrounding villages as there is a shortage of early years places in the area.

Finances are stable and healthy, with August 25 showing a small surplus of income over expenditure, and a good level of reserves. We continue to face financial pressures from rising wage bills and national insurance increases, as well as inflationary pressures on consumables etc, so our level of reserves will help us through, if necessary, in the foreseeable future.

Achievements in 2024 - 2025:

Successful introduction of woodwork for children
Regular cooking sessions and yoga sessions offering challenge and variety to our provision.
Regular ‘Woodland Walks’ sessions where all children spend approximately 2 hours in the local woods and fields, making the most of our unique location.
New wooden outdoor play equipment bought with a grant from Blenheim. (climbing and role play)
Training two apprentices ‘on the job’ – both studying for a level 3 qualification with Eden training.
Successfully supporting two children with significant additional needs.
Moved to a full day offer for children from 2 to 4-year-olds, 8.50 – 6.00pm Monday to Friday. (Afterschool club for school aged children is now run by the Primary School at school)
Re-launch of a high-quality toddler and baby group in the Hub, staffed by experienced early years practitioner.

Our committee and staff continue to work closely with the Combe Hub, Combe Charities, the Primary School, Combe Mutual Aid and the VHRGC all of whom are very supportive of Preschool. We are very grateful to have the support of these and other village organisations.

The continued support of Parents and the Village is much appreciated and the committee will continue to work together with our dedicated staff to continue to provide the very best early education for the young people of Combe and local villages.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended DD / MM / YYYY . Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
