County Awards Recogni�on
At the Kent Scout Annual General Mee�ng and Awards Presenta�on on September 28th, for their contribu�on in the past financial year four of our members were recognised for their work:
· Jonathan Atkins , District Youth Lead, received a "Highly Commended Award" for Youth Shaped ini�a�ves.
· Wendy O'Kill , Group Chair and former District Chair, was named Trustee of the Year.
· Evan Tyson , a Scout from Wateringbury, was awarded Young Person of the Year.
· Steve Hill , Group Lead Volunteer at Allington, earned the Growth & Development Award.
These accolades highlight the excep�onal contribu�ons of our district's members.

World Scout Jamboree
Our members that a�ended the World Scout Jamboree in Korea as par�cipants, leaders and interna�onal service team, despite the challenges with the event had an incredible experience in Korea and celebrated with scouts.
Leadership Transi�on
A�er 14½ years of dedicated service, Sandra Grace stepped down as the Group Lead Volunteer of Yalding Scout Group. Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping the group's success, and we thank her for her remarkable contribu�ons.
Program Expansion
We are excited to announce the launch of our new provision for 4 to 6-year-olds,
the Squirrels sec�on. This ini�a�ve aims to introduce younger children to the values and adventures of Scou�ng, fostering early development and community engagement.
Community Engagement
Throughout the year, our groups organised various events to strengthen community bonds:
· St. Michael & All Angels Group Christmas Party : A fes�ve gathering bringing together Scouts of all ages.
· Loose Swiss Scout Group's Annual Christmas Carol Service : Held at All Saints' Church in Loose, this cherished tradi�on celebrated the holiday spirit.
· Maidstone West Network's Fes�ve Trip to London : An excursion that allowed members to experience the city's vibrant Christmas atmosphere.
These events provided opportuni�es for our members to connect, celebrate, and embody the Scou�ng spirit.

Sec�on Highlights
Each sec�on of Maidstone West District Scouts engaged in unique ac�vi�es throughout the year:
· Beavers (Ages 6-8) in various ac�vi�es such as camping trips, community service projects, and badge-earning endeavours. These experiences were designed to foster a sense of adventure and community awareness among our youngest members.
· Cubs (Ages 8-10½) : Our Cubs par�cipated in a range of ac�vi�es that challenged them to develop new skills and work collabora�vely. They took part in outdoor adventures, skill-building workshops, and community engagement projects, all aimed at promo�ng personal growth and teamwork.
· Scouts (Ages 10½-14) : The Scouts had an even�ul year, par�cipa�ng in various camps and ac�vi�es that tested their resilience and leadership skills. They engaged in community service ini�a�ves and worked towards earning badges that recognised their achievements in various disciplines.
· Explorers (Ages 14-18) : Our Explorers embraced a year of adventure and personal development. They par�cipated in challenging outdoor ac�vi�es, leadership training, and community service projects. These experiences were designed to prepare them for future leadership roles within and beyond the Scou�ng community.
· Network (Ages 18-25) and community involvement. Members par�cipated in various events and projects, including interna�onal expedi�ons and local service ini�a�ves, fostering a sense of global ci�zenship and community responsibility.

Maid5tone West Distrirt Scout Council Financial Review for the year ended 31 March 2024 The accounts for the year ended 31 March 2024 have been prepared on a 'payments and receipts, basis, as in previous years, and include the income and expenditure for each of the Explorers units. and the Districvs 50 % share of the Hamlet Wood Scout Campsite and the Gang Show. The District Council's main income is from members. subscriptions, net of capitation paid to Kent Scouts, and income from hiring out the Distrirt HQ. Our main expenditure is maintenance of the District HQ support for various Scouting events within the Distrirt and contributions towards the cost of the World Scout Jamboree. During the year the Trustee Board approved a proposal to upgrade and repair the District HQ including replacing the roof, incurring one off costs of £23, 310. The Committee has established a formal reserves policy in accordance with guidance from the Charities Commission. The reserves tske in to consideration the financial circumstances of the District, as well as its objectives and obligations, and will be subject to regular review by the District Council in the future. During the year a new 'Network Reserve, has been created. Details of those reserves and the balances held in each of them as at the end of the financial year are set out in the notes to the accounts. At the financial year end the balance on the General Reserve was £10,777. Despite the challenging circumstance of the past year couple of year5 Maidstone West District remains in a sound financial position and is well placed to support Scouting going fonvards. Responsibilities and basEs of report As the charity trustees of the Maidstone West District Scout Council you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'the ACY). I report in respect of my examination of the Maidstone West District Scout Council accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Dirertions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
