Manager’s Report
Harrietsham Preschool is a Registered Charity that has been providing Preschool services in the village for many years. We care for children from 2 years until they start Primary School, and pride ourselves in being inclusive and welcoming to all. The majority of the children attending the Preschool use Government Funding, and places are available to Parents/Carers at no cost to them. Aside from the Government Funding, we do also offer places that Parents/Carers can pay for. As a Charity we fundraise in order to purchases resources for the children.
The year 2020 – 2021 proved to be a challenging one. We were in the unfortunate position of having to move premises again, the second time in a year. We were however, lucky to be welcomed into the Church building just in time to avoid closure, and quickly adapted to the new environment. We started the academic year with few children and staff, as the uncertain future of the preschool caused many people to find alternative childcare or jobs. Along with the cost of moving and the lower number of children, we also had additional costs for cleaning supplies and PPE as COVID-19 was still affecting many aspects of the business. Fundraising remained difficult due to ongoing social distancing.
Although these factors meant that it was not possible to break even during 2020-21, we worked hard to minimise the financial loss incurred and therefore, the long term impact on the Preschool – this year.
It is hoped that having a more secure future will now encourage parents to join the Preschool and we can return to the strength we’ve enjoyed in previous years

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity ("the Trust") for the year ended 31/07/2021. As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the Responsibilities and accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the basis of report Act").
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come Independent to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to examiner's statement believe that in, any material respect:
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or the accounts did not accord with the accounting records
