Section C Objectives and activities

The Trustees of the YMCA Central and Anglia Trust Fund consider applications to the Fund for grants for charitable work carried out by Summary of the objects of the individuals connected to any local YMCA in the Central Region of YMCAs charity set out in its or the Regional Committee of the Central Region of YMCAs, which governing document includes YMCAs in East Anglia.

The fund provides assistance to young people connected with a YMCA in the YMCA Central and Anglia regions, and usually under the age of 30, Summary of the main to enable them to take part in one or more of the following activities that activities undertaken for the they otherwise would not be able to afford: public benefit in relation to these objects (include within • Training in skills or knowledge directly related to their academic or this section the statutory life-skills needs, including governance, leadership, adventure declaration that trustees have training or camp experiences • had regard to the guidance In furtherance of a Christian spiritual experience issued by the Charity • An international experience Commission on public benefit) These activities are expected to help develop the young person in body, mind and spirit so that they can make a more positive contribution to their own development and their local communities.

Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)

You may choose to include further statements, where relevant, about:

These grants will usually cover up to a maximum of 90% of the cost of the activity, with the balance to be raised either by the individual and/or their supporting YMCA.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

The charity aims to grant up to approximately £13,000 per year in grant bursaries, usually in amounts of up to £1,000 per bursary. This has been increasingly difficult as many member YMCAs consider the administration needed for a grant of up to £1,000 unnecessarily burdensome. As a consequence of obtaining this feedback through consultation with the member YMCAs the trustees have created a significant project to support all YMCAs within the area of benefit, and to create a template for the wider YMCA Movement in England & Wales to adopt. This will recruit and train young people to become active participants as trustees on the Boards of their YMCAs. There are currently 3% out of 151 trustees who are under 30 years old in the sample area and the trustees expect that their project will make a significant impact on this demographic. In the year ended 31/3/2023 the trustees have defined the project and begun the process of working with One YMCA to act as the delivery partner.

TAR

3

Section D Achievements and erformance p One YMCA have now delivered one year of the planned programme and the trust has made two stage payments, each of £30,000 for the work that has been completed. A review of the first year is now complete and the actions that are outcomes are being implemented before the second intake of young people takes place.

Section E Financial review

The charity keeps sufficient cash funds to cover 12 months’ outgoings. Brief statement of the Funds in excess of this are invested in relatively low risk, near liquid charity’s policy on reserves investments under the guidance of an IFA.

Details of any funds materially None in deficit

Further financial review details (Optional information)

The principle source of funds is donations from YMCAs in the region. The Charity has very little overheads, usually only fees to our professional advisers. Minor refreshment expenses are paid to cover its bi-annual meetings. Trustees are able to claim travelling expenses but generally decline to do so.

You may choose to include additional information, where relevant about:

The bursaries are paid from accrued income from investments.
