## Chairman Report – 2021
Since taking on the role as Chairman in 2018 I can tell you that between 2020 and now this has been one of the hardest and challenging roles to do. From managing staff, the setting, children, and parents it has been very demanding. We’ve seen anxiety levels go through the roof due to the Covid pandemic and the media hype. The staff have adapted extremely well and have kept the preschool safe for those who attend and visitors (hardly any) of the preschool.
As a packaway setting adding additional tasks onto their day to day running of the preschool has taken its toll. We have seen 2 staff members leave us during this period and they have moved onto the pastures new with family extensions. However, we have been able to employ new staff members who have come onboard extremely quickly to fill the void and have continued the high standards that we are used to providing.
Our meetings with the Local Authority have taken place online and they have continued to provide excellent support from afar.
Our Parents have been fantastic in supporting the new preschool day, with regards to drop off and collection and staying within the social bubbles as per the guidance from Government.

During 2020 and 2021 the Covid Pandemic impacted not only the running of the preschool but also our accounts here at Binfield Preschool. At the start of each term we had a slow uptake of children in accepting places at Preschool and this had an impact on our income. During Covid we limited the number of children we could cater for based on guidance from the Government and the Local Authority (LA), which meant we capped our daily cohort to 17 (21 normal capacity). Places were filled by the criteria set by the LA.
However staff salaries went down because we had two member of staff leave during this period. We continued to operate while we recruited and we managed to secure two members of staff, this allowed us to operate to our capacity.
As a preschool there has not been a lot of expenditure outside of the normal, wages and rent.
