Pets Sn Need Chairman'5 report for the year 2024
The Charlty has had a contlnued perlod of uncertainty due to the length of tlme probate has taken.
The property was conflrmed as being left to Pets In Need from Oorothy Maden's will. Whlle thls
provldes some certalnty, it presents challenges due to the cost of maintaining the bulldings now
rests"nE solely wlth the charity. Taxes and expenses are meanln8 donations to the charity are spent
on property expenses which Is not the main role of the charity arKJ diverting costs from anlmal care.
Our resefves are diminlshing and are not sufficlent to redevelop the house to be In a Ilveable state.
The charity needs to consider all optlons for the future of the site- retentlon, sale, relocatlon or
refurblshment.
The biE8est de(islon of the year was that the shop was closed In July 2024. Thls happened after
much a8onlsln&, due to It unfortunatety no longer belng able to make a significant fundralsir
contrlbution - wlth a net proflt of less than £IOiXI for tho year. My hu£e thanks to Marlan and the
volunteers for thelr dedicatlon and work at the shop ovor the years, and to the team who cleared
the stock from the shop over a weekend after It had closed for the flnal t1￿.
Commlttɕ
I have been very gratef￿ for the support and eneour4ÈmÈnt of the committee. l am stiii very busy
wlth my Wofk commltments and have had to redu￿ my input agaln.
Operatk￿l
We have managed to return to some degree of normallty In anlmal care but have had reduced
Incomes. l am very grateful for the volunteers who contlnue to come to look after the anlmals and
welcome the new volunteers.
Anlmal care.
I continue to be proud of the work that the volunteefs do In and around the charity- the dedlcation
and hard work to the welfare of the anlmals at the sanctuary Is dearly evldent.
We have many anlmals seein8 Oirt thelr days happlly In our care wlth substantial vet bills to support
that care. Many cats have been rescued and brought back to good health. then rehomed, thls has
been Ilmlted by the uncertainty of contlnued operations and volunteors.
Volutiteers
We pre¥lously had dlmlnlshln8 number of volunteers, so the work had fallen on fewer shoulders. I
arn pleased to see that more volunteers have tome forward, but we stlll rety on a small, core group
to keep tarÉ golng. Tho commitment olour vdunteers Is what makes this charlty and Is hugely
appretiated, and l Élve my slncere thanks to all still Involved arnl welcome the recent additlons.
Althou£h not 2024, 1 want to partl¢ularly thank Kath and Gary Wild, who left In June 2025, fof thelr
support every weekefid for almost a decade and who mentored many new and youn8 volunteers.
Fundrabln¢
The annual open day and dog show and other fundralsers have been a great SL•ccess and other
fundraislng Ideas been started which have made a Ereat start, Including garage sales and ad hoc
events.
Aud
We have reappointed an Independent Auditor- Donna Ornwn - to revlew the accounts.
Concktslon
I would Ilke to thank all the volunteers and trustees for your support ol Pets In Need.

by approximately £3,000. Various events were held throughout the year including online raffles, garage sales and fairs which had an increase of over £3.7k on the previous year. Our Annual Open Day and Dog Show performed financially well as the previous year which is our main fundraising event. Investment income was greater in 2024 compared to previous and standing orders have increased in the last twelve months. We also received grants in 2024 compared to the previous year. The charity shop unfortunately closed its doors in July 2024 aMer being open for many years.

Maintenance expenditure has increased over 2024 compared to the previous year and the insurance premium for the property has risen drama&cally. Cat veterinary fees are increased due to helping more cats and rabbits through ill health, neutering and vaccina&ons. The cost of animal feed has increased over the years which makes a significant impact on our spending.

were able to own the land that the charity is based upon thus giving us permanent stability. Advice was sought from The Charity Commission prior to par&ng with funds.
