Julio has been living in the UK lor around hyenty years with her husband and three children. Her
family runs a Chinese lakeowoy re5tauront in Birkenheod. Julia ond her husband loce longuoge
barrie￿ in the UK. and they have been using WMO'S seNices lor more than o decade since they
came to vfirral. WMO hos been supporting Julio ond her family with a range ol issues. including
educolion. business. medical help. ond home utilities. Julia and her family have also always been
updoted on new oclivities ond inlomiolion to support them throughout the CoMd-19 pondemic.
Most recently, Julia's GP had referred her lo have a gastr05copy lesl. but due lo the language
barrier. a WMO worker was contacted to oller interpretation on the phone. Sensing that Julio wos
still worried oller the call. the WMO worker made sure lo coll her back afterwords to reossure her
ond explain everything in more detoil, which helped her feel much belter ond relieved. The famity
has been able to access pubfic health services with WMO'S 5UPPOrt. and her and her husband
have both had their Covid vaccines this year al WMO. Juria is always appreciative and calls back
to say 'lhank you. lo WMO'S stoff. She says that she feels more confident in her life, knowing that
WMO is always there to give support lo her and her family.
Aminu
Amina come to the UK as a refugee from Syria. She was f1rst referred lo WfvIO ofler her daughter
suffered from kidney failure. When WMO'S heollh link worker mel Amino ond her fomily online lor
the first time, he found thot in oddilion to the health issue. the lomily needed more support
finonciolly and emotionally. Since then, WMO ha5 SUPPOrted Amina not only with health issues.
but a&0 through providing wellbeing telephone calls. vouchers. and a financial parcel.
Amina has been facing a lot of difficulties and does not have a lot of free time. bul she feels less
isolated after accessing WMO'S support: 'It is great to fe&1 SUPF)Orted. Now, l am not olonè. I know
that I have someone lo talk to if I lace any issues"
Mr and Wen
Mr ond Mrs Wen ore on elderly couple who moved from Chester to Birkenheod 15 yeor5 090
when they retired. ond they ore originally from Chino. Their chli dren were brovght up in the
UK, bul they've moved owoy from home now. The couple no longer had anyone to interpret
English to Chinese foi them day-tTrday to help with acce55ing heolth Services and
prescriptions, so WMO stepped in. When they first moved to &rkenhead. WMO also supported
them with their housing and pension to help them settle down.
More Tecènlly. WMO hos beèrn suprx)rling Mr orld Mrs Wen wqth Iheir health i55ue5. The couple
are diabetic. and Mr Wen is partial-sighted. When Mrs Wen hod a fall at home, WMO helped
them call an ambulance and provide interpretotion gll the woy to the hospilol. After being
dischorged. health link 51off worked w*h the community nursè ond thè Mediquip seThqce to
svpport the couple adopt their fife and promote a healthier lrfestyle.
During the pondemic, WMO staff defivered prescription medicine lo them to reduce their
worries ond called them regulorty to ensure thol the couple ore stawng sofe ond thol they
understand the latest information obout Comd. Mr Wen w05 initialty hesitont obout receimng
the vaccine, being concerned obout its heolth effects. but o heollh link worker convinced
him to receive both doses. After encourogemenf from WMO stoff. the ¢ovple ore 0150 keen
