Chairperson Speech 11.10.23
Since our last AGM we have had yet again another successful year of fundraising.
We were very lucky again this year to be allowed to run the Tea Rooms at Ickwell May Day. It is a huge task in organising the event and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without all the volunteers who baked cakes, made sandwiches and served on the day. So a big thank you to everyone involved.
Fundraising is a massive part of the Committee’s role, running the events enables us to raise funds which go straight back into the Pre-school and helps to provide new equipment, resources and experiences for the children.
We have had a new manager takeover from Rachel… Charlotte.
I have been blown away by how Charlotte has taken on the role and given it her all. Also some new members of staff have joined the Ickwell team who have got stuck in and I have to mention Sports day. I wasn’t able to attend this year due to work but i popped in in the morning when it was being set up and i couldn’t believe it! Honestly i have never seen and felt such a good atmosphere at the Pre-school, it was amazing! Well Done Asha and the rest of the team!
A huge well done to the whole team for receiveing a ‘good’ ofsted rating!! Having to go through it twice must of been stressful and after administrative errors being rectified we got the result the Pre-school deserved.
I have been on the Committee for 7 years, 5 of which I have been Chair. The time has now come for me to step down and let someone else take on the role. I am very passionate about the Pre-school and will of course support it in any way i can.
We also have our Treasurer and Secretary stepping down, Holly and Catherine. Thank you both for all of your help.
I hope that people will step up and join the committee and take on the roles required. The Pre-school cannot legally operate without a Committee and I have done my absolute best in keeping the Pre-school open and hope that the Pre-school remains open for the forseeable future.
