Chalrman's Statement
Year Ended 31 August 2021
I hereby present my report and the accounts for the year end&1 31S1 August 2021. We have had another good
year despite ongoing difficulties caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. We have maintained good pupil
numbers and have continued to provide our usual high staThYard$ of teaching using remote leaming when
necessary.
The school prides itself on providing excellent academic prcvision for all pupils regardless of their level of
ability. Those of higher abilities are challenged to rea¢h th¥r fvll potential and those with lower levels are
nurtured and encouraged to do likewise. I pay tribute to all the staff who Challenge, support and assist all
pupils as necessary. Our Year Six gids had an outstanding year in relation to admission to senior schools
despite the disruption to educational provision caused by the pandemic.
We have seen some necessary reductions in our usual wide ranging provision of extra4urricular activities in
particular off site and residential visits bul hope these can SOC￿ resume.
In what has beeft a very difficult and challenglng tlme in the second half of 2021, we have had outslandlng
support from loyal parents who CO￿ wrth remte kaming an.J kindly complimented staff on the efforts made
In that regard.
I thank our Headmistress, Mrs Sarah Fisher for the enoM￿U$ afforts she has made to allow Children to return
lo school when we re-opened safely and securely. Her vision and leadership have once again been exemplary
throughout the yèar. I would also like to thank all staff for -.heir hard work and dèdication to the children

Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance aboul whether the financial statements as a whole are free
from material mi$$latement. whether due to fraud or error, and to issue an auditor's report that includes our
opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance. but is not a guarantee thal an audit conducted in
accordance with ISAS IUK) will ahvays delect a material misstatement when it exists. Misstalem8n15 can arise
from fraud or error and are considered material if, individually or in the aggregate, they could rgasonably be
expected to influence the economic decisions of users taken on the basis of thes& financial statements.
Irregularities, including fraud, ar8 instances of non-compliance wrth laws and regulations. We design
procedures in line with our responsibilities. outlined above, to d•te¢t material misstslemenls in respect of
irregularities, including fraud. The extersl to which our procedures are capable of detecting irregularities,
including fraud is detailed b&lt)W'.
As part of the planning process..
Wt enquire of managem8nl the systems and controls tha charlty has in place, areas of the accounts
most $usceptibl& to the risk of irregularrties and fraud, and any in$tsnces of or suspected fraud.
We obtsin an understsnding of the legal and regulatory frameworks applicable to the chantab
Company.
Wa consider the incentives and opportunrties that exist in the charity, including the extent of
management bias. which presents potential for irregulariknes and traud to occur, and tsilor our risk
as5ts$menl accordingly.
Using our knowledge of the ¢harrtable company, together wrth discussions hald with tha charity al
the plannin9 Stage, we fom a conclusion on the nsk of misstatement due to irregulariti&s including
fraud and tailor our audit procedures accordingty.
The key procedures we undertake to delect irregularitses including fraud during the audit inclLbde.'
Identifying and testing joumal entriès and the overall a¢counkn"n9 record, in particular those that were
sigrsificant and unusual.
Reviewing the accounts disclosures and det&mining whelher accounting policies have been
appropriately applied.
Reviewing and challenging assumpkn'ons and judgements used by management. including any
significant accounting eslimales.
Assessing the extent of compliance with relevant laws and regulat￿n5.
Testing key income lines, including cut-off, for evidence of management bias.
Assessing the validty of the clasSificat￿n of in￿me. expendrtuft, assets and liabilities betsveen
Restricted and Unrestricted Funds.
Obtaining third party confirmation of material bank balances.
Documenting and verifying all signfficant related party balarI￿$ and transactions.
Reviewing dOcU￿￿nIation such as the Charity board minutes, correspondence with solicltors, for
evidence of irreguLgrities including fraud.
Because of Ihe inherent limilations of an audit, there is a risk that we will not detect all irregularities,
including those leading to a material misstatement in the financial statements or non-compliance with
regulation. This risk increases Ihe more that Compliance wth a law or regulation is removed from the
events and transactions reflected in the financial statements, as we will be less likely to be¢ome aware of
instsnces of non4ompliance. The risk is aLw greater regarding irregularrties occurring due to fraud rather
than error, as fraud invofves intentional Con￿alment. forgery, collusion, omission or misrepresentation.
A further description of our responsibilities for the audtt of the financial statements is located on the Financial
Reporting Council's website at.. www.frc.0rg.uklaudttors￿sponsib1llt18$. This description forms part of our

The TPS is an unfunded multi-employer defined benefits pension Scheff￿ govemed by The Teachers,
Pensions Regulations 2010 las amended) and The Teachers. Pension Scheme Regulations 2014 {as

Notes to the Financlal Statements
Year Ended 31 August 2021
The employer contribution rate is set by the Secretary of State following scheme valuations
ndertaken by the Government Actuary's Department. The most recent actuarial valuation of the TPS
was prepared as al 31 March 2016 and the Valuation Report, which was published in March 2019,
confirmed that the employer conlributs.on rale for the TPS would increase from 16.40/0 10 23.60A from 1
September 2019. Employers are also required lo pay a scheme administratson levy of 0.080A giving
total employer contribution Tate of 23.68%.
The 31 March 2016 Valuation Re￿￿ was prepared in accordance with the benefits set out in the
scheme regulations and under the approach specified in the Directions, as they applied al 5 March
2019. However, the assumptions were cOn￿dered and set by the Department for Education prior lo
the wling in the 'McCloud/Sargeant case.. This case has required the courts lo consider cases
regarding the implementation of the 2015 reforms to Public sep11￿ Pensions including the Teachers,
Pensions.
On 27 June 2019 the Supreme Court denied the govemment permission lo appeal the Court of
Appeal's judgment that transitional provisions introduced lo the refomied pension schemes in 201 S
gave rise to unlawfvl age discrimination. The govemmenl is respecting the Court's decision and has
said it will engage fully with the Employment Tribunal as well as employer and member
represen181ives lo agree how the discriminats.ons will be ￿r￿died. The government announced on 4
Febnjary 2021 that rt intends lo proceed with a deferred choice underpin under which members will be
able to choose éither legacy or refomRd scheme benefits in respect of their seNice during the period
be￿en 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2022 at the point they become payable.
The TPS is subject to a cost Cap mechanism which was put In place to protèct taxpayers against
unforeseen changes in scheme costs. The Chief Secretary lo the T￿aSUry, having in 2018
announced that there would be a review of this cost Cap mechanism, in January 2019 announced a
pause to the cost cap mechanism following the Court of Appeal's ruling in the Mccloudlsargeanl case
and until the￿ is certainty about the value of pensions lo employees from April 2015 onwards. The
pause was lifted in July 2020. and a consultatson was launched on 24 June on proposed changes lo
the cost control mechanism following a review by the Govemmenl Actuary. Following a public
consultation, the Govemmenl have ac¢epted three key proposals recommended by the Govèrnment
A¢luary, and a￿ aiming to implement these changes in lime for the 2020 valuations.
In view of the alK*ve ruling$ and decisions the assumptKJns used in the 31 March 2016 Actuarial
Valuation may become inappropriate. In thi$ scenario. a valuation prepared in accordance with
revised benefits and surtably revised assumptions would yield diffeffjnl results than those contained in
the Actuarial Valuation.
Until the cost cap mechanism mision is completed It is not possible lo conclude on any financial
impact or fvlure changes to the conlribution rates of the TPS. Accordingly no provision for any
additional past benefft pension costs 1$ included in these fin8n¢ial statements.
b) Workplace pen8lon 8chem•
As required ty the Pensions Act 2008, the School provides a Workpla￿ pension scheme a defined
contribution scheme, lo its, employees who are not members of the Teachers, Pension Scheme.
Employees aged be￿een 22 and state feti￿rnent age and eaming at least £10.000 per annum, are
aulomaticalty enrolled in the scheme. although they may choose lo opt out.
Employees btheen the ages of 16 and 74 with eamings less than £10.000 per annum also have the
right to join the Scheme voluntarity.
