Chairman’s Annual Report on the activities of Farnham u3a
I am delighted to report that our branch of the u3a organization continues to thrive.
Recovering from the impact of the pandemic fully, will take a few years but the signs are very positive. We continue to offer the Farnham community many subject groups that tend toward the academic such as learning or improving foreign language skills. However, to ensure we maintain the u3a ethos, we also provide activities that are purely for the pleasure of interacting with other likeminded members. Some of our most popular groups are those that precisely facilitate this requirement such as cycling or rambling.
Ours is a dynamic organization. Planning and delivering the annual programme to our circa twelve hundred members is complex. We try to ensure all member activities are so far as possible held within the Farnham Maltings community hub. The annual programme, planning and management is undertaken by an elected committee of volunteers. More impressive, is that each of our one hundred plus groups is led by a subject expert from our community.
I am confident that Farnham u3a both fulfils its commitment to offer a stimulating range of activities and almost as important, provides opportunities to meet a wide variety of people while so doing.
