Financial Revlew Review of the Charity's financial position al the end of the period P•r• 1.21 The year ending 20 August 2024 was a considerably good for the preschool as we saw a steady increase in the number of children. This year, funding totalling £87,527 (2023 - £88,308) was received from Somerset County Council. Income received from fundraising this year was a little lower than last year. Therefore overall, the fees from parents. other fundraising activities. pety cash received, and a small amount of interest this year contributed additional income of £26,570 Total income to for the year was £114,097 (2023- £121.545). The largest expense in the year was the wages of the preschool staff, with the new National Minimum wage we had to make an increase in staff wages. However, we did have a lower number of staff as well so we did not pay out as much as the previous year. The total cost to the Charity was £95,705 (2023 - £92,049 as restated) which represents just under 850/0 of the Charity's total expenditure in the year. As a result of the above the Preschool has returned a surplus of £780 (2023 - £11,854 as restated) in the year which has increased the reserves held by the Charty to £39,100 (2023 - £38.320). Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held Para 1.22 Trull Saplings Preschool holds reserves in order to cover the cost of 6 months. rent and rates plus enough to cover the redundancy costs of the current staff, should the preschool need to stop trading for any reason. Money is also held to pay for any large unforeseen repairslreplacement of equipment. Amount of reserves held Reasons for holding zero reserves Details of fund materially in deficit Explanation of any uncertainties about the Charity continuing as a going concern Para 1.22 £39.100 Para 1.22 Para 1.24 Paro 1.23 Regulatory Changes.. The landscape of early years education regulations on charges by government shifted slightly in 2024. Compliance with new requirements es eciall staff: children ratios as well as
level of required training could necessitate adjustments in our practices and budget. Rlslng Operatlonal Costs.. With new announcement of Increase in minimum wage as well as the Pension adiuslments, maintaining and indeed hiring qualified staff is a real concern. Additionally, maintaining facilities procuring educational materials become costlier each year. Balancing quality care with affordabilrty is an ongoing struggle as this means we have to pour in even more reSoUrS into making sure at all times in the year we have a minimum of 30 children with us to keep our heads above the water.
