## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of the 1st Combs Scout Group** 

I report on the accounts of the Group for the year ended 31st December 2025, which are set out on pages 1 to 10. 

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner** 

As the Group's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts; you consider the audit requirement of section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) does not apply. It is my responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commisioners under section 145(5)(b) of the Act, whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of independent examiner's statement** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Group and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you, as trustees, concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: 

- 1 which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements; 

- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and -  to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act have not been met; or 

- 2 to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **Financial Report** 

An initial examination of the overall figures for the year ending 31[st] December 2025 shows that the groups reserves increased by £4,015.29. 

Maintenance of our Headquarters is always ongoing.  This year we applied and received a grant from Mid Suffolk District Council, which paid for the driveway to be replaced.  The new tarmac driveway is an excellent addition and is pot hole free, making it repair free for many years to come. 

We continue to have work days at weekends in the garden and the scout headquarters to maintain and repair the premises. Please do come along if only for an hour or so. It all helps in the maintaining of our Head Quarters. 

We’ve had a few fundraising events this year with the Duck Race being a great success, raising £4,504.54.  We have also had Chocolate Bingo, raising £605.35 and the Christmas Quiz, where we raised £538.16. 

Our gift aid this year was £2,554.39. This is money we can claim back if you are a tax payer.  If you have not already filledin a form, please ask one of the Trustee Board members and we will be more than happy to help. 

All of these funds raised help us to continue to provide the kids with equipment and maintain our headquarters, enabling the kids to develop in their scouting skills.
