REPORTS

Annual General Meeting Treasurers Report for Warmley Preschool AGM

Emily Wakenshaw – Treasurer

Autumn 2024 to 2025

Welcome to this year’s AGM. As I am sure most of you are aware my name is Emily Wakenshaw. I have been on the committee of the preschool for over eight years now and become treasurer of the preschool in March 2017, I joined the committee when my daughter Ava attended preschool.

The Treasurer role is important for managing money and also providing financial information to the committee to assist with decision making. Our financial year runs from 1 August to 31 July.

Our opening balance at the start of the last financial year was £45,107.29 this is including our reserves.

Our fundraising income was £1,086.75

Our Annual profit for 2024 – 2025 was £1,499.01

Our current bank balance at 3 December is £55,121.13 this includes our reserves.

A majority of this income has come from parents paying for fees and grants. We have more expenditure with the cost of living rising and minimum wages on the increase.

During the course of this year I have been through reviewing our redundancy costs for staff and this currently stands at £28,495.05. This will rise yearly.

Now for this current academic year.

For this current financial year we are going to be looking into reviewing our reserves money as this needs to be inline with the redundancies so we have enough money aside to cover redundancies if the preschool can no longer run.

Our primary target this year is to continue to work hard and not to make a loss. Our rent payments stand at £600 per week and is paid monthly.

We need to look at ways to promote the preschool to get our numbers up. Maybe look new ways to promote in the New Year.

Over the next few months we will be looking at the minimum wage increase. This will increase our outgoings, so by us looking at ways to bring extra money in will help cover the costs of all our outgoings.

We are busy looking at fundraising ideas, although all help is gratefully received. Mothers day and Fathers day gifts go down well with families. We are always open to any fundraising ideas if you have any.

Finally, thank you to you all for your support this past year.

AGM Chair Report 2025

Welcome to 2025 AGM.

My name is Giulia, I am the chair of the Warmley Pre- School committee, and my youngest son is currently attending the setting.

Warmley preschool operates as charity and as so requires a committee to assist with the running and management of the preschool.

As parents/carers, everyone is welcome to join the committee and give as much time as they can spare.

We are always more than happy to welcome new members with their life experiences and ideas!

We are governed by the charities commission and by a constitution, which is included in the pack.

It has been a busy, rewarding, and successful year for the pre- school, and I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved together.

Firstly, I want to congratulate on the successful moving to The Coronation Centre, a wonderful location with a bright, spacious and clean inside and a large and green outside where you can find a local play ground far away from traffic and busy roads.

Secondly but, not less important, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff team. Their dedication, warmth, and professionalism have continued to create a nurturing environment where the children feel safe, valued and excited to learn. The staff is always going the extra mile and supporting each child in every challenge and need they are facing.

They support children through transitions, developing engaging activities and, they always offer comfort on tricky days, the staff commitment is at the heart of everything they do.

The children have thrived through a wide range off experiences, from creative play and outdoor exploration to early literacy and numeracy activities. Their confidence, independence and curiosity have been a joy to watch.

Several successful events have been held, including Mummy's afternoon tea for Mother's day, Easter Parade/Show, end of term picnic, graduation party for the older children moving into Reception, Halloween Party in cooperation with the community centre, Christmas Nativity/ party and Christmas Raffle.

These not only raised valuable funds but strengthened the community spirit. I would like to thank all parents and carers who attended, contributed or volunteered. Their support makes an enormous difference.

Kids have also encountered nurses and police officers, learning about different jobs,

the world, community and people who help us.

A huge congratulation to all the staff because Warmley Pre- school is a Language Champion Pre- school, supporting children in speech and language!

I would also like to acknowledge the work of the committee members who give their time voluntarily.

Looking ahead, we aim to continue improving our amazing setting, support families and enrich the children's experiences.

With the continued dedication of the staff, committee, families and wider community, I am confident we will continue to grow and flourish.

Finally, thank you to all our parents and carers for trusting us with your children. Your partnership and communication are vital, and we are grateful for your support throughout the year.

I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and excited for the year ahead.

Best Regards,

Giulia Warmley Pre – school chair.

Angela Maddocks – Leader’s Report

December 2025

You should all know me, I am Ange Maddocks, the Leader of Warmley Preschool. I have been with the preschool since 2001 and have been leader/manager for 10 years, after promotion in 2014.

Our team remains strong and stable, with me as Leader, Deb as Deputy Leader, Jo B & Jo W as qualified level 3 practitioners. Becky Greaves competed and qualified level 3 in November 2025 and Becky White remains as our classroom support.

The team continue to be committed to the preschool, undergoing First Aid training in October and so much preparation throughout our move from Warmley Community Centre to The Coronation Centre. I attended Language Champion training and our setting is now a Language Champion setting, supporting children with language, English as Additional Language and non-verbal children.

We were able to have Mummy’s in for an afternoon tea to celebrate Mother’s Day, and Daddy’s in for Donuts for Father’s Day. We shared a lovely end of term picnic in the Summer and came together as a group and community.

We continuously reflect to improve the preschool; this year we made a huge leap of faith and decided to move premises, after a winter of no heat and more leaky roofs. I found a place at the Coronation Centre (formally the Batch) and then it was full steam ahead! We gave in our notice, arranged a movement date, moving all our stuff, storage etc. and was ready for a September start. Thank you to all the committee on arranging this and for making it a smooth transition.

We were all ready to go early September but had a hold up with the Ofsted registration not coming through. This allowed us to reflect our new premises, plan a good set up and clean all the equipment and store them in our new storage cupboard. We had the go ahead from Ofsted on Monday 22[nd] September 2025 and will be expecting an Ofsted visit within 12 months.

Jason & Kim from the Coronation Centre have been so supportive, decorating the hall, allowing us to leave pictures and information up on the special boards they put up for us, as well as an information board

outside the main door. We were able to open windows in the warm days and now the weather is colder, we have a warm heated hall.

We did loose a high number of children this year to school but now have 18 on the books, a steady start for September. We have advertised in the Oldland/Bitton The Voice for October, November and December and helped at the Coronation Centre Halloween Party to promote the preschool to the community.

The EYFS was revised, again, from September 2025 and from November 2025 Ofsted announced their new inspection grades and how they will be inspecting settings from now. I am trying to get ahead and keep on top of all the changes.

However, this half term has been very challenging with Deb braking her toes and being off work for 2 weeks and only doing light duties, I did feel a little overwhelmed, but thanks to my team, particularly Becky Greaves, who has stepped up to cover hours and who has been a fabulous support system throughout, although the newest member of the team, her work ethics, common sense and leadership qualities has been invaluable.

We still do not have WIFI in the hall, so working at home has become challenging too, committing my private time doing work. I will push for WIFI again and am looking at a day working from home in the new year, working on a better home and work balance.

We are working closely with The Coronation Centre for fundraising, supporting the café on the nativity day and Breakfast with Santa this week. I will be meeting with the directors in the new year to start planning a secure outside area, weatherproof for bad weather and so the children can come and go inside and outside as they please. We have loved the freedom of the field and park, but we need a safer place to play, especially as the field is for dog walkers, who unfortunately do not always clear up after themselves.

Lastly, Warmley Preschool continues to thrive and hold its good reputation, and we pride ourselves in our inclusive practice and diversity and will continue to be the voice for these children. We have some lovely families who are onboard and supportive of the preschool, and I thank those who are with us today, those returning trustees and any new parents who are willing to join the committee. If it wasn’t for parents on committee, we wouldn’t be able to run the preschool and our events

wouldn’t be so successful, so thank you for all your support and valuable time. I look forward to working with you all.
