## **Report of the Trustees for the Year Ended 31 March 2022**
The Trustees have pleasure in submitting their report and the financial statements of The Reformation Today Trust for the year ended 31 March 2022.
## **Reference and Administrative Details**
Reformation Today is a registered charity, no. 1017000. Its address is: 170 Coach Road, Sleights, Whitby, North Yorkshire YO22 5EQ. The Trustees who served during the year were as follows:

## **Structure, Governance and Management**
Reformation Today is an unincorporated association governed by its Trust Deed and administered by its Trustees. In accordance with the Trust Deed, new trustees may be appointed by the vote of the existing trustees at a duly convened trustees’ meeting.
## **Objectives and Activities**
The principal object of Reformation Today is to promote the Christian faith, and in particular the Biblical and historic heritage represented by the 1689 Confession of Faith. It does this by means of publishing its magazine, “Reformation Today”, organizing the Carey Conference for those in Christian ministry and leadership, and supporting African Pastors’ Conferences (APC).
## **Achievements and Performance**
The Reformation Today trust oversees the production and distribution of the Reformation Today magazine; the Reformation Today website; the annual Carey Conference for church leaders and their wives; the sourcing and provision of books for the African Pastors Conferences; and a small number of books and booklets published under Carey publications.
In terms of the Reformation Today Magazine we believe that the magazine has a unique place in encouraging and promoting Reformed Baptist theology and practice. Our editor, Kees van Kralingen, continues his excellent work shaping this magazine, gathering and editing articles, deciding themes and writing himself. The Trustees are extremely grateful for his hard work and for the way he has maintained the high standards of the magazine. The high quality of the articles is matched by the design and layout of the magazine. Kees has submitted a report for the Trustees at our AGM. Having said all of this, the future of the magazine in its present form looks uncertain. The move in our age and culture to more online blogs and material means that physical magazines are increasingly hard to maintain financially. At present, the cost of producing the magazine is significantly higher than the money coming in from subscriptions and the trustees will have to make some decisions about the magazine’s future. The RT website continues to be a valuable resource and is well used.
It was a joy for the Carey Conference to meet in January with very few covid restrictions. Despite rumours of new covid restrictions which could have made people hesitant to book, we had around 100 full-time delegates, which has been fairly standard for the past few years. Our main speaker was Sam Renihan. This may have been a contributory factor in the number of delegates who attended for the first time. First timers made up 25% of the bookings which was very encouraging. Bookings are slowly coming in for next

year’s conference (3-5[th] January), where our main speaker is Bill James. We have given an option of subscribing to the magazine when booking for the conference but so far have only had one subscription.
After the Covid Pandemic brought the African Pastors Conferences to a halt for some time it is a great joy to see that work now going on so strongly with conferences held in many different places and many pastors receiving vital teaching, training and resources. We are also thankful that the whole structure of APC is now in much better order and as a registered charity in South Africa it makes our involvement and support much easier. We are thankful to Oliver Allmand-Smith for his oversight of this aspect of the work.
There continues to be an interest in various publications that RTT has had involvement with over the years. ‘Children of Abraham’ is back in print, and various requests to use materials first published under Carey Publications have come in. It is good to be able to encourage the spread of the gospel and the doctrines of grace in other lands.
As ever, as a Trust, we acknowledge our dependence on the Lord for His help in all we do and give thanks for His faithfulness in sustaining us.
## **Public benefit**
In carrying out its activities in the year under review, the trustees have had regard to the public benefit guidance issued by the Charity Commission, and are satisfied that the activities mentioned above have all been for the public benefit.
## **Review of Finances**
The results for the year are set out on page 4. The trustees consider the financial state of affairs of the Trust to be satisfactory.
It is not the aim of the Trust to accumulate financial reserves. However, funds have to be kept in hand for the following purposes:
1. Provision for subscribers in the event of a sudden end to the magazine’s publication, and production and postage costs for 4 issues of the magazine in the event of a sudden loss of income from subscriptions;
2. Planning and booking expenses for the Carey Conference;
3. Funds for the publication of new books;
4. Planning and expenses for the African Pastors’ Conferences;
5. Funds for future projects which have been proposed and are currently in development.
The current reserves of the Trust have been reviewed and considered appropriate for these purposes.
