Manager/Trustee report

Year ending 31[st] August 2025

This last year has been another successful year, we started September 2024 with lower than usual numbers but the numbers improved as the year went on.

We had our Ofsted inspection in January 2025, resulting in a ‘Good’ outcome. The inspection itself was not as stressful as previous inspections, the inspector put us all at ease and there was a second lady (Quality Assurance) observing the inspector. This lady ensured that we felt at ease and happy with the process throughout.

We are very proud of our inspection report and feel it is well deserved by the hard-working staff.

We had a successful Nativity in December 2024, with a fantastic cast and audience as always.

We started the ball rolling to recruit a new apprentice in readiness for the next year. Lauren has since joined us and has fitted in very well.

We signed a new 6 year lease with the church, giving us the security of a roof over our heads for the next 6 years.

Fiona retired at the end of July 2025 after working for 25 years at Pre-school, she is sorely missed but we know that she is thoroughly enjoying her much deserved retirement!

The leaver’s party in July 2025 was well attended; we had the magician Nick Barnes perform for us and he was a great success.

Our sponsored obstacle course raised an amazing £838!

The children leaving us for school in July 2025 had visits from reception teachers from the receiving schools in the area. The teachers were impressed with the children’s behaviour and achievements. An ‘end of year’ report for each child was handed over to the reception teachers. The feed back was very positive about the helpfulness these reports provided.

We did have initial worries about the possibility of the local Primary school opening a nursery in the near future. After discussions it was decided that due to the plans for a possible 3 new housing estates in Sandbach, we do not have to be overly worried as many more spaces will be needed.

As always, I would like to thank the staff for their continued support and enthusiasm, we have worked together for many, many years and make a great team. All staff performed fantastically during the Ofsted inspection and the result was well deserved.

We are having to say ‘goodbye’ to two of our committee members, Charlotte our Chairperson and Beth, who have both been great assets to the Committee. Thank you for all of your hard work it is much appreciated.

Everything from contributing to our decision making and ideas, organising and running our open day, cups of tea after the Nativity, researching things and volunteering your husbands to do jobs for us!
