The trustees have adopied the promsions of A¢¢wnting and RepNting by Charities.. siatemenl of Recommended
Practice applicable to chafitie5 preparing their accounts M accordance with the Financial Reporting Slandard
applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) <¢ffecbve 1 January 2019).
Objeetl¥es and activities
The tharty's main area of acbwty remains in Benga. India, it is involved in the folowing proJects.-
Lepcha Asso¢iabon - The Lepcha$ are the (￿igInal Indigenous people ol the Darjeeling Hills with a nch cultural
heritage whith has been swamped by the arnval of the more recent Nepali immigrants. We have organised
cultural evenls of dance. rnusic. arthery and poetry. We have published the Lepcha lexl books. diaries. poetry,
history and other lileralure to foster enhance Iheiw culture. We have SUp￿ed the Lepcha Night Schools with
malenals and teacher trainng.
Educalion ￿MaInS a key task and we offer sthjlarship coach￿9 in Kalimpong. We have brought a young female
Lepcha 51udenl lo Engla￿1 for education at a Pfestoious North of Ewland Sthojl and she is now attending
niversity at Newcastle.

The truslees ¢onfrfm that they have refefred to the Charty commis￿on'$ guidance on public benefil when
reviewing the Trusys aims and objectives. in planning future activit￿s. and sethng grant making policy lor the
year.
The trusl furthers its tharitable purposes for the public benefit Ihrough ts grant rn8￿n9 pelicy which aims al:
-Improving ihe culiural and ernnomic life of Lepcha's, benefiting the Lepcha community as a whole.
-Providing additional grants to other charilable organisalion fft order that they may benefil Ihe public In
accordance wilh theii charitable objectives.
Achievements and perfomiance
ZANE Ifimbabwo a National Emergency)
e Continue lo make a substantial donalim lo ZANE. The major component is to furKI a food dislfibulion
programme for pensioners and cafe hornes. Every Wednesday fresh food is Ixought to Harare and dislributed
throughout the area. We also contribule to a medical fund which addresses the many issues confronted by our
aged pensioners.
We also continue funth.ng our named benefiuaries and as they expire, we accept
replacemenls. One such expiry was Mr Rob Smart whose isolated farm near to Ihe Mozambique border was
seized and retumed. His death logelher with the previous demise of his wrfe left his disabled daughter in a sorry
state in consequence of which we afe FuTrJ"ng her welfare.
All of these contributions are dosely nM)nrtored by Msile inspection.
BACSA (British Assoclatlon of Cemeteries in South Asia)
The long-posiponed inspection visit look ptace. Arnbala. Shimla. Meerut ard Delhi were visrted and some repairs
put in hand.

The financial slalements have been prepared in accordance wrth the charity's govefning documenl. the
Charities Act 2011. FRS 102 "The FinanGial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
fFRS 102") and the Chantses SORP "Accounling and Repoftrng by Chanties.. Slalemenl of Recommended
Praclice applicable to charit￿& preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporbng Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102)" (effective 1 January 2019). The charity is a Pubhc
Benefit Enlity as defined by FRS 102.
The financial slatements are prepafed in sterlng. which is the functional currency of the ¢harily. Monelary

Income is recognised when the charity is legalfy entitled lo il after any perfomianee conditions have been met.
