## RIDGEWAY PRIMARY SCHOOL AND NURSERY PTA TREASURER’S REPORT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING ## 21[st] September 2022 We will be preparing the Annual Accounts and these need to be reviewed by an independent auditor, we are therefore currently looking to appoint a new independent examiner for 2021/22 ahead of this year’s requirements. The Accounts will be approved and signed by Nancy Smyth (Chair) and myself, Alexia de Lecaros Hemmons (Treasurer) on behalf of the Trustees. Attached is a summary of the income and expenditure for the year ending 31 July 2022 analysed by event to show how we have generated profit for the year. We have made a profit on our events for the year of £ 39,079 (excluding school funding and year 6 leaver’s donations). This is the most profit the PTCA has made in any one given year to date - long may this trend continue. I don’t know about you, but for me it feels like the COVID restrictions were a long time ago. To think that our profit has tripled for the 2021/22 year compared to the year before is insane, monetarily, this increased by £ 26,188 (which is a 303% to be precise). Come to think of it, we did run some major earners which were cancelled due to COVID last year, such as the Fireworks and the amazing Ridgeway Rocks. It’s incredible to think that in this meeting just last year we were counting the toll of a muchreduced PTCA schedule due to lockdowns and other Covid restrictions. While we still managed some surprisingly successful fundraising in those difficult years, the bounce back with restrictions lifted and a return to a full roster of events has been phenomenal. The return of the beloved Ridgeway Fireworks led the charge, followed by our ‘Summer Fair turned up to 11’, Ridgeway Rocks, and bolstered by smaller events and popular regulars such as ice cream and tuck shops. Our year-on-year profit has tripled, with a monetary increase of over twenty-six thousand pounds. The total raised this year is exceptional, with the core events being the Readathon (£2.7k), Fireworks (£7.3k), Circus (£4.5k), Ridgeway Rocks (£13k). Other events such as the Smarties Challenge and Ladies Tea together have decreased somewhat in popularity but still bring in a combined £1.3k. Changing clothes bank supplier has had a massive impact as the income generated from that increased by 81% from £566 to £1,029. To compare our events year on year (or to be more precise to the previous time they were run) here are a few of the big changes: ## Significant event profit increases, include: - Brand new earner, the Pumpkin Parties and Reception & Nursery parties was added to the Pumpkin hunt and raised £1,683.26 profit - this is an increase of 273%. - Fireworks - profit has increased by nearly 14% (from £6,302 to £7,325) – this is a huge fate given that we stopped selling Glow products which used to bring in over £1k. - Summer Fair – Ridgeway Rocks – profit increased by nearly 300% (from £4,383 to £13,022). ## Significant event profit reductions, include: - Alternative Xmas Fair – profit decreased by 26.5% (from £5,226 to £3,835) - Circus – profit has decreased slightly by just under 4.5% (from £4,560 to £4,370) - Smarties – profit decreased by 26% (from £1,090 to £795) - The School Lottery - profit has decreased by 32% (from £390 to £266). It’s notable that the School Lottery used to be a big earner in previous years raising around £800 however over the last few years this has decreased by just over 65% - it would be amazing to see this back where it used to be. It may be that a new round of promotion is needed due to longterm participants aging out of ridgeway and new parents not being aware. This month for example there is a Double Prize Bundle of Theatre tickets for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as well as experiencing the magic of the Wizarding World at the Warner Bros Studio Tour – who wouldn’t want to win that !!! But enough of that. We have finished the year with a cash balance of £50k, actually £50,082 to be precise. In the last financial year, the PTCA contributed £15k towards the new school Library (to be officially opened by children’s author James Campbell next week!) and as Nancy has mentioned we are looking forward to donating £45k this year towards more Library books, the Nursery Outdoor Play Area, the Sensory Garden, and the MUGA. We have sufficient money to fund the short to medium term charitable expenditure of the Association. And finally, it has been a privilege and an honour to serve as the treasurer over the last few years and I look forward to handing the reigns to the next volunteer.
