## **Trustees’ Annual Report for the Year ended 31[st] March 2021**

## **The Association’s Purpose**

The Constitution of the Association defines its Aims as _“To provide a recreation ground for the benefit of the inhabitants of Wigginton_ _**,** and to promote sports and recreational activities thereon.”_

Mr Tomlinson resigned his Trusteeship for health reasons in July and died unexpectedly on 19[th] September. On 15[th] October, two more Trustees were elected, Mr G.Elphee and Mr. J.P.Leaf. Mr Leaf was elected Vice-Chairman.

At 31[st] March 2021, there were seven Trustees (Mrs Denton and Messrs Elphee, Gates, Haseltine, Leaf, Ward and Wilson.

## **The Association’s Activities**

The Association consists entirely of volunteers. It is the umbrella organisation for five independent amateur sports clubs that offer squash, football, bowls, tennis and petanque to their members and visitors. We are tenants of an area of parish land comprising almost ten acres, on a long-term lease from Wigginton Parish Council. The Association has now been active for 50 years, and has been a Registered Charity for 28 years. The Wigginton Community Pavilion Trust joined the Association in May and undertook the management of our new John Jeffery Pavilion under a Community Use Agreement.

The Association’s activities during the year were severely restricted by the Coronavirus pandemic and the regulations imposed in efforts to bring it under control. None of the member clubs was able to operate their normal league programmes, and for much of the year even social games were not possible. Consequently, it was decided to waive affiliation fees for the year. Fortunately, generous grants were received from national and local government, which allowed essential running costs to be met.

The Association looks forward to the gradual easing of the pandemic restrictions in the second half of 2021, and hopefully the return to normality.

On behalf of the Trustees Kyle Ward.
