Section D Achievements and performance

As well as providing weekly scouting activities for all sections, the group **Summary of the main** has been able to offer a return to more normal scouting following the **achievements of the charity** Covid pandemic. As such a number of camps, sleepovers and trips have **during the year** been organised throughout the year. The Scouts section finally managed to make it to Kernow camp over the summer after abortive attempts to attend Brumjam in 2020 and then Scoutmoor which was cancelled this summer by Devon scouts due to lack of interest. A woodlands camp was then organised for early September, which was then postponed to the Queen’s death. This was then moved to the Spring term and was enjoyed by all who attended. Beavers and Cubs enjoyed a joint camp during the summer. 1[st] Holsworthy expanded its scouting provision this year with the setting up of a Squirrels section, which is open to 4 to 6 year olds. Squirrels have settled into the Holsworthy Scouting family well and have enjoyed their first Christmas with us and their first sleepover, which went well and it is rumoured that some of them actually slept. Other sections have enjoyed Lasertag Trips, a trip to Crealy and a visit to Bideford. And once again the Scouts provided a lively audience for the local pantomime with their annual trip to this event. 1[st] Holsworthy Scouts also took part in many community events during the year including the Fair Week Furry Dance, Remembrance Parade and the town Carol Service. In addition the group attended the Mid Devon Scout St George’s parade in Okehampton. Members across all sections have worked hard at attaining their Scouting badges across a wide variety of activities and achievements. A number of members throughout the year have achieved their Bronze, Silver and Gold Scouting badges.

GSL REPORT.
This year has brought a few changes to our group. with the addition of our Squirrels sectlon, which
has gone far better than we anticipated, and they continue to amaze me with whot they are capable
of, and our Explorer settion is gaining strength and is now a big part of the Holsworthy group.
Another big change was the move to Mid- Devon district after the closure ofTorridge.
Thank you for welcoming and 5upporrin8 US with this move and we hope to get invofved with lots
more distrirt events when we can.
We currently have 18 Squirrels. 29 Beavers. 30 Cubs. 26 Scouts and 7 Explorers in our sections, and
as always we have a long waÉting list of kids wanting places. Recently l added 12 children to the
waitsng list in one week arbd Helen is a150 forwarding enquiries from the Scout website almost
weeklv.
The continuing success of l Holsworthy, is down to the amazin8 team of leaders we have, all who
give their time and work tirelessly not just on a section night but behind the scenes, there is an ever
increasing pile of admin and papepwork to complete. a hall and a field that need continuou5
maintenance and a huge amount of planning and preparation to ensure your children get the best
out of scouting and enjoy activtties and events safety.
It really 15 not just one hour a week! And it is great to see the whole teom mixin8 between section5
and stepping in to help out where needed.
This year we have welcomed Julie. Becky. fina. Marie. and Nicola to the ￿aderShiP team and Alisha
has made the leap into leadership after leaving Explorers at 18.
So. thankyou to all our leaders. you really are a team to be proud of.
