MOIRA REPLAN

TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT - 2023/24

During the year 2023/24 the Trustees were very much aware of the pressure on small charities due to the uncertainty of energy cost and cost increases in general. A careful review of all spending is in place at all times. This has resulted in a healthy bank balance to carry forward to the next financial year.

During the year 2023/24 our part-time Project Manager retired and a decision to not fill that post was taken. The work undertaken by the outgoing, project Manager will be covered by trustees and volunteers. Any financial savings made as a result of this decision will contribute to the future overall financial stability of the charity.

Work to ensure all policies are updated as necessary is carried out by a working party of Trustees, who also carry out a regular overview of finances and actions or decisions that might also affect financial stability.

The charity continues to serve communities within the area of benefit. This is specified in the constitution of the organisation and through provision of meeting rooms and support in general for all groups, especially new ones who want to be part of the Moira Replan Project, we continue to flourish as an important community resource.

With regard to energy efficiency the charity has obtained grants and financial support from individuals to improve the energy usage at the premises we lease from North West Leicestershire District Council. This work has included a new condensing boiler thanks to support from the Morrison’s Foundation (topped up by a generous donation from a private source). We also replaced of all of the old lighting by new LED fittings, plus loft insulation in the main building. All of the users and volunteers are feeling the benefit of a cosier environment in the knowledge that we are saving money on energy costs.

We are currently recruiting new Trustees to help carry the charity forward into the second quarter of the 21[st] century.

INTERNAL AUDIT REPORT MOIRA REPLAN

FINANCIAL YEAR 2023 – 2024

I have undertaken an internal audit of Moira Replan for the year ending 31[st] March 2024.

My role is to assist the council in fulfilling its responsibility for the prevention and detection of fraud and corruption, errors and mistakes. This is achieved by ensuring that proper systems and financial controls are in place to fulfil this objective.

I have carried out tests and in all significant aspects the control objectives have been achieved throughout the financial year to a standard adequate to meet the needs of the charity.

There are no issues to which I need to draw your attention.
