Also providing training and safety awareness to crew members. The trustees and Committee of the Charity are aware of the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit in and have had regard to it in respect of their role in the Charity and the roles of the Senior Officers and Committee who administer the Charity. RBRB is facility which works in close cooperation with the RNLI and HM Coastguard with a primary remit to ‘nip in the bud’ incidents that are visible from the village and to access difficult locations along the shoreline where larger boats would struggle. The public benefit of the charity is shown from the regular service it provides undertaking rescues of small craft, both belonging to local **Summary of the main** people and the many thousands of regular visitors to Runswick Bay and **activities undertaken for the** surrounding waters. The crew and committee are all totally voluntary positions, without which the Charity could not operate. We are working within the framework of good practice for our type of **charity during the** organisation. **year** The Rescue Boat has continued to provide life saving services at sea. Ome examples of activity 29/9/23 - yacht slipped its anchor at the end of last summer and the crew worked hard with Staithes and the Coastguards to save the yacht from being smashed on the rocks. I’d like to think we were instrumental in saving that boat that day. 30/8/23 – we were launched the next day to escort the boat to Whitby for a survey and repair 21/3/23 – we had a couple of incidents in March which involved medical conditions as much as rescue – the first was on 21[st] March when we were tasked by the Coastguard to assist people trapped by the sea. The husband was Ok but the lady was suffering a medical condition and we assisted with recovery 23/3/23 – then on 23[rd] March there was another incident where we didn’t even launch the boat so it doesn’t officially make it into our shout register but it involved a 90 year old man who had fallen on the steps below Thach Cottage and got a nasty head wound. 11/7/23 – finally, just a couple of weeks ago on 11 July we had a shout of the kind envisaged when the boat was established. A local boat Puffin had broken down and it was early evening. The boat launched and towed them ashore. _Further information can be found at:_ http://www.runswickrescue.org.uk/ March **2012** **TAR** 5 ## **Section E Financial review** **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves** **Details of any funds materially in deficit** We currently have sufficient funds for our operational requirements and we continue to actively raise funds through events, collections and regular donations. We attempt to hold a reserve of at least one year’s operating costs to provide a buffer for unforeseen operational costs, against uncertainties in income and to provide cover for troughs in the cash budget and for foreseeable expenses and asset replacement.
