The trustees present their annual report and financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 st
December 2024.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the second edition of the Charities Statement
of Recommended Practice issued in October 2019, the Financial Reporting Stsndard applicable in the United
Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Charities Act 2011, as amended by the Charities Act 2022
The trust constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention wilh items recognised at cost
or transaction value unless otheNise stated in the relevant nole(5) to these accounts.
Objectives and Activities
The object of the charity is the provlslon and maintenance of a village hall and l or recreation ground for use by
the inhabitant8 of the area of benefit wlthout distinction of political, religious, or other opinions, Including use for
meetings, lectures and classes and other forms of recreation and leisure tlme occupation with the object of
Improving the condbts'ons of lrfe for the inhabitants.
The tru8tees confirm that they have complied wlth the requirements of Section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to
have due regard lo the public benefit guidance published by the Charlty Commlssion for England and Wales.
Achlevements and Performance
2024 continued to be a busy year for regular hirers, wedding events. parties, and providing the pre-school group
with preml8es to provlde a valuable serviGe to the parents and children in the area.
Rising Gosts again thi8 year, together with significant outlays on 8 new gas boiler for the Hall and ongoing
repairs required to ensure the Hall remains viable as an attractive venue for both regular and one-off hirers,
have again impacted on the results for the year.
The annual Bonflre Night event, which was cancelled In 2023, went ahead thls year, and vms very Successful ,
providing an income of £2,770 In 2024.
The chanty continues to provide a vitsl amenity for the local community for meetlngs, recreation, and social
activities.
Flnancial Reviow
At the end of the period, the charity held total funds of £441,290 (2023 £440,979). All funds held are
unrestricted, { 2023 '. all fund8 held were unreslricted}. During the year, income exceeded expenditure by £311
{2023.' expenditure exceeded income by £245). Further details of the financial performance for the year can be
found In the financial statements bèlow.
The charity's Hampshire Trust Bank two-year bond ended in November 2024. £70,000 was reinvested In a one
year bond, which is due to mature In 2025. The remaining balance was returned to the charty'3 HSBC Bank
current account.
It is the charity's and trustees, policy to maintain reserves at a level it considers necessary to meet future cash
Ilow requirements.
The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis. The trustees a￿ satisfied that the
charity has sufficient cash flows to meet rts liabilities as they fall due for at least one year from the date of
approval of the financial statements.

Structure. Governance and Management
The Trust is a registered charity, number 1014361. and is consts'tuted under a Conveyance dated 18 June 1929,
as amended by an Altering Scheme dated 6 May 1999.
The Trust has four trustees, who must hold the property belonging to the charity. The trustees may hold office
for life. Any appointment of a trustee must be made by the remaining trustees in consultation wrth the charity
trustees and the appointment reported to a meeting of the charity trustees.
The management committee includes five &x-officio members (the above four trustees, plus a president if
appointed), six elected members (Chairman, Secretary, TreaSU￿r, plus three others), and one appointed
member for each of the organisations listed in the above Altering Scheme).
The members of the committee are the charity trustee8 of the charity,

I report to the truslees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity, Papplewlck and Linby Village
Hall (the Trust} for the year ended 31 December 2024.
The scope of my examination includes the accounting records of Papplewick and Linby Village Hall (The
Trust). The independent entity operating as Wright's Bar is outside the scope of my examination. The proflt
share and stock valuation attributable to the Trust has been confirmed by the proprietor, Darren Wright. It is
the responsibilrty of the Trustees to ensure they have appropriate financial Controls in place to ensure the
managernent of this arrangement, given the nature of the cash business,
Responsibllities and basis of report
AS the charity trustees, you are responslble for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the
requirements ofthe Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,), as amended by the Charities Act 2022
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under sectlon 145 of the 2011 Act and
in carying out my examination I have followed all the appllcable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 145(5)(bl of the Act.

the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act,, or

accounts set out In the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any
requirement that the accounls give a true and fair view which 1$ not a matter considered as part of
an independent examinalion.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection wSth the examination to which
attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be
reached.

Accounting Policies
Ba318 of pr8parlng the financial statements and assessmènt of going concern
The financial statements have been Prepared in accordance wrth the second edilion of the Charities
Statement of Recommended Practice issued in October 2019, the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102) and the Charrties Act 2011,as
amended by the Charities Act 2022.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, except for
investments which are included at market value, as modified by the revaluation of certain assets.
The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the Trust's ability to continue as
going concern.
Incomo rocognltion
All income Is recognised in the Statement of Flnancial Acllvltles once the Charity has entitlement to the
funds, it is probable thatthe incomewlll be received, and the amount can be meagured reliably.
Expendlture rocognltlon
Liabilitie8 are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligatlon
commlth'ng the charity to that expendilure, it is probable that a transfer of economlc benefits wlll be
required in 3elllement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expendlture is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classlfled under headlngs that
aggregate all costs related to the category Where costs cannot be directly attributed to partlcular
headlngs, they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent wllh the use of resource8.

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the
trustees.
Restricted funds can only be used for particular reslricted purposes within the objects of the charity.
Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial
statements.
Pension costs and other post-retirement benef
The charity operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contribulions payable to the ¢harty'3
pension scheme are charged to the Ststement of Financial Activities in the period to which they relate.

The contribution received in earlier years towards the cost of the building the hall stipulates that the hall
