the 81fts that God has 8lven them to bless people and make thelr Ilves better. Thls Includes the
materfal demonstratlons of urKondltlonal love thrO￿h acts of klndness and seNlce. The Church
glves to the poor and neth, both to people wlthln the Church arKI those outsth the Church. Manv

The Church's maln goal Is to erkible as many people as pos51ble to hear the G05pel and dlscover the
Joy and freedom that Jesus Chrlst has made avallable for all. The Riverslde Centre Is used as a Pla
of Worshlp: bullt Inltlalty as a publlc hou¥ the buildlng provldes great spaces for the Church to
worshlp and fellowshlp together and spaces for the wlder Commun￿ to meet and find frlendshlp.
Thls has been s￿h a valuable spxe for the thurch and communlty to make connecttons as people
flndlng fellowshlp and frlendshlp In an Increaslngly separated sodety. The fInan￿S pay for the
pastoral leader, hub manager and communtty worker, medla creator and an admlnlstrator. These
pald roles support the larBe number of volunteers that make the comrnunlty of falth and the
charltsbje work posslble.
Durln8 the finandal year Wll 2023 to Aprll 2024 LIVI￿ Word Churth used Rlverskle Centre to
support people In the York area. The Centre remalned a Pla￿ of worshlp, prayer and fellowshlp for
the churth communlty and a base for the Chr15dan outreath and tharftsble works partkularly the
Increased requirement for the Foodbank serv1￿. The Hub Comrnunlty Café opened 2 days a wee
pn>vldln8 healthy. low c05t and tssty meals In a vRmi. friendly envlronment to around 55 guests
each week. The Rfverside Centre was an officlal 'warm space. opening 3 days a week durlnE the
wlnter. Thos communlty resource has wekomed many people from the surn?undlng area. provldl
homemade food and hi8h-quality hot drfnks at 'rK)t for prkes. Th15 has also started the
buildln8 of frlendships wlth café custor￿. helping to redu￿ the Isolatlon lots of people have felt.
It Ss estlmated that we have sp)ken to and given emergerKV food to over 666 famllles through
runni￿ one of the Trus5ell Trust foodbanks In connectlon wlth York Foodbank (thls was 20% of the
York Foodbank provtsion this year). We work with volunteers fr(Mn St Andrews and York Communlty
Church in thls proJecL ThEs Is a slgnlfkant number of households being supwd In the cfty from
our ￿ntre and we pralse our volunteer team for additional vth put In to support these
familie&

The Riverside Centre remalned a base for outreath into the communlty around Huntlw Road and
Bell FanTr Estate. The Uttle Stsr5 toddler and baby 8roup contlnued thls year Pro￿ry a great
place for parents/Care￿ and thelr small children to scthllse. fellowshlp and learn. There are usualty
35 families comln8 every week. Thls year the contlnuatlon of the CAP (Christians Against
Poverty) Llfe Skllls course being run at the Rlver51de Centre. The second cohort of 3 people and 5 In
the thlrd cohort attended thls course and learned how to budget and how to make ends meet on 3
very tl8ht income.
Durt￿ this year we worked with the Ark Churth and the Elim Church to provide a very needed y(
group. Thls Spa￿ for fvn arKI friendshlp has seen up to 22 young people each week. The Rlver5ide
Centre has also been opened as a welcomlng place for internattonal students In combinatlon wlth
Frlend5 International wlth up to 10 students each ses510n.

The vast majority of the Churth's Income Is from 8lfts from members. These 8fft5 are spIIt between
Incomes related to tlthes. general offerlngs and earn￿rked glfts (for spedflc purposes>. Where Glft
Ald15 applkable th15 Is added to any earn￿rked 8lfts before these are passed on. The rest of the Glft
Ald Is used for prO￿ts and outreath. We encoura8e all members who can workto find work and we
SUPlY)rt them In that alm. Spedfic 8lfts were eannarked ty the 8lvers to SUPPOrt those who are poor
or needy In the local area and abroad.
Detalls of the perforniance and achlevements are Induded In the sectKins ab)ve.
We contlnue to work wtth the York based Chrlstlan chartty Bundles of Joy to store thelr baby
equlpment, clothlng and consumables In the second-floor rooms of the Rlverslde Centre. They
dlstrlbute a bundle of baby Items to tdmllles In the York area who are havlng a baby and are in need.
Durln8 thls flnandal year the Besom Charlty also contlnued USI￿ SP￿ In ts Certre to supply
those In need.
The Church contlnues to make the Rlverslde Centre wdllable to the Intematlonal con8regatlon of
the York Ellm Church. We work wlth other churches and the One vol￿ group across York to where ft
is beneficlal.
The trustees have Increased the reserves with a plan to have a couple of months. worth of essentlal
out801￿. Income has increased partitsjlafly generous 8lfts from church members. The mort8a8e
and ener8y Cost have remained hl8h thls year, tsking a high proportlon of the Income.

The new reserve fund, separate from the Seed FurKI has been put aslde to supwt the employment
of the paid ernploY￿. leavir¥ the Seed FUNI for 81ft for mlnstrles to Churth and a furrfl to
support those in need. Reserves are also kept ensurifE liabilities can be met by eas1￿ the cashfknw.

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in
accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'the Act,).
I report in respect of my examination of the Charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of
the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions
given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5}(b) of the Act.
Independent examlner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matter5 have come to my attention
in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that In any material respert:
l accountin8 records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of
the Act; or
2 the accounts do not accord with those records
