REPORT 2021 - 2022

Last year has been eventful for the centre in getting back to some normality after Covid. Although it is still around, people realize that we have to live with it and with the help of vaccines and being vigilant we are managing to curtail it. The centre supported people during the pandemic and kept in contact with people some where very afraid to come back to the centre and we have had to build up once again.

We are here to support and provide a safe haven. The centre aims to give everyone a fulfilling and happy environment where they can feel safe and in many cases make friendships.

We are here for families and carers as much as people who attend. The team have worked hard to create this and ensure that families can feel happy to put their loved ones in our care for the day.

Our first party after the pandemic was an Easter party last year, this was a smaller affair and we kept it simple, we have geared the centre to more activity/therapy groups and this has helped with both clients, carers and families.

Our members created a beautiful garden and it was lovely for them to sit in as the weather changed, but unfortunately it was destroyed by vandals. Very quickly people started to donate plants etc to rebuild the garden. The Hull Truck Theatre came along and entertained us with a play called Hull and Highwater featuring John Middleton who played Ashley in Emmerdale who is now a Patron of the centre.

Summer was upon us and we had a lovely garden party with a buffet, barbeque and entertainment. During the summer we also had various groups entertaining us, Ruth Gelz who did a singing group with us for 10 weeks, Carol who does exercise groups, Drum Circles, New Theatre came along again with a play about Hulls own Amy Johnson.

Autumn came along and we staged our own Hull Fair at the centre, we also had a Halloween Party, this lead us nicely into Christmas where we had a party, entertainment and dancing. After the Christmas break we resumed for New Year and everyone was pleased to be back, our daily numbers started rising and we made plans for a valentines party where people made and exchanged cards, played games and created friendships. Donna from Sound Circles created a song with the people and everyone was very vocal. Lesley from Hull Churches started a revive group after the Covid Impact and people really enjoyed and looked forward to this on a weekly basis.

We came to the end of our financial year in March, but we can say that over that year we did many things to help and enable families, carers and people. We will endeavor to do the same and more to follow.
