This year Saw wcrr's continued focus on Young Actors Companyi exparvj our contacts and build our relationships w

This period saw the cuknlna￿on of our Stones of Survival project. In collaborat¢on with Green Arts Centre we concluded
the delivery of 25 x I hour sUmulL15 workshop5 to 10 schools In Merton reathing 625 young people. These workshops
were based around the word suNval and what it means to the young people. The schwls were then free lo £￿ate any
athork- wsual or perforrning in response to thi5 Stimulus to be showcased at the Arts Sharing in July.
After hugety successful productions in the Studio at New Wimbledon Theatre (Strawberry Yoghurt and A Serie5 of
Publlc Apologies) our Young Actor5 Company groups embarked on devising small performances inspired by real life
stories of 5urvlval to be perfomed at the same Art5 Sharlng. Att Two used the Jack Petchey Award money to fund

Theatre leader, lead by our lead artist and coordinat￿. We also planned and financlally contrlbuted to a one-week drama
project attend8J by 22 young people aged 7-12 at Green Arts Centre which enabled Ihem to reach more of the
community and has lead to fijrther OFVOrtunitles for a dance group and other holiday tirne projett week5.
Overall the Arts Sharlng on 10th July 2022 was a great success. The exhibitlon was h05ted by Canons House & Grounds
and the Ilve perfomiance and further artwork was exhlbited at Green Arts Centre. 44 young people performed and 96
audience members attended. It featL5red 179 painb'ThJs, 3 film5, 4 iheatre pietss and collections of poetry created by local
school puplLs, our young attors and GAC Youth Theatre members. Monday Ilth July saw us staglng an exhlbitlon for

By the end of Summer temi, Young Actor5 had worted wlth 46 young peopk, 22% of whlch were on a free place

hour5 of cL45ses and 48.5 hour5 of extra rehearsals and performed to 338 audience members,
The stsrt of the academic year in September saw lots of new attlvity and fresh challenges as we went back up to 3
groups, Att One, Two and Three. The cost of living crisis hitting in the Autumn made the membership fees hard f¢y ￿ffle
to meet and we saw a rise In the demand for free pla￿S throughout the yeaf. CNerall we worked with 61 young peop
cross the 3 group5 during the 22123 academk year.
We took on 2 new group dirertors and 3 new assistant directors and we launched a Mentoring progrnmme for Young
Attors Alumni. The aims of the menlorfng programme was Nio-fold: not only did it offer extra 5UPPOrt lo our youn
people Increasing supervision to 3 adults for every 20 young people, but it also gave the mentors themselves an
opportunlty to (ievelop thelr 5ki115 as facilitators, participate in 5afe9uardlng training, chaperone licensing and be 155Ua
wlth a DBS. One mentor Is completlng a music degree, one is hoping to pursue a career In cosiume design and one
mentor has deckled to become a drama therapisi.
For our therne this year we d)ose to revlsit our intergenerational work launching the Re:Generations projett. Wth
fun(Ilng from The Taylor Famlly Foundation, ACE and Wimbledon Foundation Community Fund we were able to establish
two creative arts groups (Merton Plays) for elder5 efcher living with demenLia or experiencing particular isolation within
their corllmunity One in as%xiation wth Alzheimers Society and based at Merton Dementia Hub and the other In
a5SOClation with Common5ide Comrnunity Development Trust at New Horizon Community Centre in Pollards Hill. These
gTOUP5 met weekly and gave the older partiopants the chance to tell storles, create poems, respond to art and music.
Lead by an experienced practitioner we had 33 paFticipants across the year. Thanks to Wirnbledon Foundation
Community Fund we were able to take on an assistant director for the groups in lanuary offerbng the older participaT)ts
even more 5UPPCrt and encouragernent.
