Saturday night functions are well supported with participants enjoying entertainment, food and good company. Saturday night events have been organised for the remainder of 2024. These functions are open to members, subject to the type of event and the capacity of the hall. Our thanks go to all BCWA committee members and their partners who help to run the events on a voluntary basis, whilst each paying full ticket prices for admission to the events. Ticket enquiries for future events should be made to Brian Cooper on 0191 257 8821. All members are encouraged to invite friends and acquaintances to come along to these enjoyable evenings.

As well as the regular groups, and the Saturday events indicated above, the community centre is used by the office of the Returning Officer for North Tyneside and Tynemouth for local and national elections. The hall has also been used by local people for private parties which range from children’s birthday parties to adult birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, music and dance practice. Bookings are welcomed from members and non-members and can be made through Philip Howells on 07961 123 432.

The certified accounts for the year 2023/2024 show a net deficit for the year of £3,464 (last year’s accounts showed a deficit of £8,024). The deficit being accounted for by upgrading of some fixtures and fittings e.g. new carpet and curtains and ceiling tiles on stage and in storage room. A projector has also been installed for the benefit of user groups and anyone hiring the hall. The accounts show the Association remains in a healthy position. A set of accounts and the Accountant’s Report are available at the AGM and further copies can be obtained from the BCWA treasurer on request.

All members of the committee put a large amount of unpaid time and effort into the continuing success of BCWA and the association also depends upon the support of the local groups and of the local community. The committee would welcome help from any persons willing to assist with the running of the Association on a voluntary, co-opted or full committee basis. Those interested should contact any of the existing committee members. Membership of the committee for the year 2023/2024 stands at 9 members and 1 co-opted member Nicola Smith to be officially appointed at the Annual General Meeting. Our thanks also go to those who currently help and give their time to the success of the Association, also to the leaders and helpers of the regular user groups who contribute to our continued success.

In order to maintain high standards, thanks go to our cleaner Vicky Wight and Norma Norvell and husband Dave who oversee the cleaning supplies process and attempt to keep the outside reasonably tidy (any offers of assistance with the grounds would be most welcome).

Finally, we thank the community groups, regular hall users and BCWA members who contnue to support us so that everyone can make full use of BCWA’s facilites.
