OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives
The original objects of the Trust as recorded in the Articles of Association in 1973 were "the advancement of the
Christian religion and the advancement of education anywhere in the world" Since then the Trust has developed its
work in interfaith dialogue (which is recorded in the Articles as one of the ways in which the objects may be acliieved)
and the promotion of justice, peace and reconGiliation.
These objects are reflected in the mission statement which the Trustees revised in 2015. and which now reads: The
An]merdown Centre was set up in 1973 as a Christian foundation. It eKlSts to promote pea¢e. justice and reconciliation
in a safe place of hospitality where people of differing views or faiths can engage in dialogue and can pursu¢ their
journeys of prayer, faith or enquiry"
The Ammerdown Centre ￿lfi1S its charitable ObJ￿tiveS by being a Conference and Retreat Centre which

This is sumM￿lsed in the Arnmerdom￿ Centre's strapline.. 'Arnmerdown - Hospitality. Peace and Reconciliation,.
The An￿erdOWn Centre has identified its Core Value5 which are:
Inclusivity - Sustainable solutions can only be built by safely including all stakeholdets. whatever their views and

reach or who are on the rnargins of a confiict. Ammerdown conunits in all its work to achieve a good diveTse balance
atnongst program participants.
Non Violence
Violence is counter-productive to the transfornthtion of conflicL and non-violent alternatives Gan be
developed which are both humane and sustainable.
Respect - Every human being, without exceptio￿ deserves to be treated with equ￿ respect, and to have their dignity
upheld and their hurnan riJtr ]ts respected.
Independence and Imp&rtiality - Ammerdown dDeS not take sides or promote sps¢ific solutions but rather acts as an

Caring- Amtnerdown will show kindness and concern for all of its customers and visitors without question.
Dialogue - Dialogue is 8 kind of slow and thoughthl list¢ning, combined with carefill talking. It com¢s from a genuine
attl￿de of respect and ruriosity, combined with a commitment to work on understanding and ty to fmd the thin tines
between agreement and disagreement.
Hospitality - Amtllerdown has deep routed wann. friendly reception and treattnent of guests or strdngers, the qU￿lty of
receivillg and treating guests and strangers at Amm¢rdown will be one of excellence.
