National Eczema S(Kiety ha5 been working hard behind the scenes to continue pressing NHS England and NHS Improvement to cL4rify their prescribing guidance on emollienls. Emollients are essential for managing eczema as reflected in dintal guidelines. We have been working on this Init￿l¥e alongside other dermatology organisation$. led by the Dem)atology Couwl of England and British Assocralion of Demiatologists. The current guidance is confusing and does make rt SUffic￿nI￿ clear that GPS can- and ShO￿d- prescribe leave-on emollients for people wrth long4erm inflammatory cond¢tions. including eczema. The report reinforced many of the findirrfJs of the Scciety's Eczema Unmasked campaign. which shwed the profound impa¢t of ￿effla on people's mental heallh. In other influencing activity, the SOc￿ty worked wrth the Medicines and Health¢are Products Regulatory Agency {MHRA} to support the launch of fve warning labels on emollient packaging.
