Chair’s Report – Laurel Avenue Community Association
It has been a pleasure to serve as Chair of such a brilliant community association over the past couple of years.
There have been many highlights, including the panto trip and the community trip to York, both of which I know were thoroughly enjoyed by many of our members. I also had the opportunity to visit the lunch club, where plans were already underway for this year’s trips. It was wonderful to see members coming together, making plans and demonstrating the strong community spirit that defines our centre.
I would like to extend a huge thank you to our trustees for giving their time and continued support, and to our dedicated staff and volunteers for another year of commitment to our association, our community and our members.
Thanks must also go to our funders, without whom many of our groups and activities simply would not be able to run. We are equally grateful to our staff and volunteers for delivering these activities and supporting the centre so effectively.
To all our community members and centre users—from the lunch club to the youth groups and toddlers—you are the reason we have such a thriving and vibrant centre.
Last, but by no means least, I would like to give special thanks to Claire, who makes my role as Chair an absolute pleasure. I truly enjoy chairing this community centre, and that is largely due to Claire being such a brilliant manager. She works incredibly hard for everyone, and her commitment to Laurel Avenue is outstanding.
If you are happy for me to continue, I would be delighted to remain as Chair and look forward to seeing what the rest of 2026 brings.
Finally, I would like to thank Chris Fletcher, who is stepping down from the committee after many years of valued support and service. Chris’s contribution has been greatly appreciated, and we wish him all the very best for the future.
