Objects - Aims.

The aims of the Community Centre are:

To promote, through its activities, the benefit of the inhabitants of Even Swindon and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to ensure the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objects of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.

## Review of the year 2024/2025

As in previous years we have had another challenging year, we have seen the running costs increase considerably, and with such a small Committee we have to put everything we have in keeping the Centre going for another year.

Bingo is still taking place on a Thursday evening; we have many regulars who have been coming for many years. However we struggle to encourage new people to attend. The special Bingo evenings are still taking place for Christmas and Easter. We even had a Halloween themed hat competition this year.

Our part time employee ‘Cheryl’ has left the post and at present Committee members are filling in until we can find someone to take on the role.

We still have many of the groups that have been with us for a few years, the Choir, ‘Hartbeeps’, Chair exercise classes, The Sewing Group, The Lace Group, Dancing Classes, U3a Yoga Classes and the Spiritualist Church. The History Group folded at the end of the year due to lack numbers. ‘Revolutions’ the performing Arts Group moved on to new

premises. The booking slot has been taken over by Dance classes. Back in the spring we had a new Church Group start, they meet every Sunday morning.

We held a party to celebrate Halloween; this was well attended and hopefully enjoyed by all who came.

Just before Christmas we held a Christmas Party for the over 65’s, it was a small ‘do’ with about 25 people attending. Everyone had a good time; we even played a short game of Bingo.

January saw the price of hire increase slightly and the tightening up of regulations for the hire of the facilities.

The Bar has now been running for a year and appears to be doing well, new people have been using it and the Licensee has been running Quiz nights, a Darts team and even Karaoke nights.

The Garden is being kept tidy thanks to the gardener, Eric.

We are still used for private parties, wedding and meetings.

Our aim for the future is as always to keep the Centre running as smoothly as possible however difficult it can be with such a small Committee. We would like to encourage people to use the Centre more and to be a focal point for the Community.

Thanks go to all that use the Centre, to the Committee for managing it, to staff for caring for it and to the volunteers who help and anyone else that is involved.
