Objects - Aims.

The aims of the Community Centre are:

To promote, through its activities, the benefit of the inhabitants of Even Swindon and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to ensure the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objects of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.

## Review of the year 2023/2024

This year has once again been another challenging year, with such a small Committee we have put everything we have in keeping the Centre going for another year.

Bingo is still taking place on a Thursday evening; we have a lot of regulars who have been coming for many years. We have had a few new people attending; the special Bingo evenings are still taking place for Christmas and Easter.

Our part time employee Katie has moved on to pastures new which means we now have a new part time employee – ‘Cheryl’ who helps at functions etc.

We still have many of the groups that started when we reopened after the covid shutdown. Revolution Performing arts, a Choir and ‘Hartbeeps’, Chair exercise classes run by the Parish Council. The Sewing Group is still meeting so is The Lace Group, The History Group, Dancing Classes, U3a Yoga Classes the Spiritualist Church. Little Bears moved to new premises earlier in the year.

The Committee took the decision to try and encourage more people into the Community Centre by changing the Bar. It was using a small room which made it very cramped when it

was being used for a party. The small room has been combined with the larger meeting room next to it. This room was used for the Library; the Library has been moved to another meeting room. We also had to relocate some hirers who were using this room. This room was being used as a polling station which now takes place in the Foyer. In order to do this we obtained permission from the Parish Council and the Local Councillors.

The Bar reopened at the end of March and so far is doing well.

The broadband has been upgraded and now gives cover throughout the building, the water heater in the kitchen stopped working and has it cost more than we could afford at the moment we now have to rely on kettles.

The Garden is being kept tidy and thanks to the Parish Council a couple of the trees have been cut back.

We are still used for private parties, wedding and meetings.

Our aim for the future is as always to keep the Centre running as smoothly as possible however difficult it can be with such a small Committee. We would like to encourage people to use the Centre more and to be a focal point for the Community.

Thanks go to all that use the Centre, to the Committee for managing it, to staff for caring for it and to the volunteers who help and anyone else that is involved.
