The aims of the Community Centre are: To promote, through its activities, the benefit of the inhabitants of Even Swindon and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to ensure the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objects of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. Review of the year 2021/2022 This year has been another challenging year. With most of the ‘Lockdown restrictions ending we finally managed to reopen the Community Centre in September 2021 to more activities. The first event was an ‘Open Day’ on the 4[th] September 2021; this was to let the Community see that we were open for Business once more. The Mayor was in attendance as was many people from the Community . Many of the original groups restarted with the exception of the Monday Evening Keep Fit, the Tuesday evening Yoga class and the Miracle Church. However we did have many new groups starting, e.g. The Revolution Performing arts, a Choir and a group called ‘Hartbeeps’ Parish. The Bar has had a makeover with a new licensee and a complete redecoration and is now open during Bingo. It is also being booked for a lot of private parties. Bingo is doing well with several new people in attendance. In October we held a Halloween party which was very well attended. The toddler group now has a new name ‘Little Bears’ and is being run by different people. With restrictions in place we have not been unable to hold an Annual General Meeting until now. The last one was held in June 2019. Annual Report 2021/2022 1 During November 2021 we received the sad news that Mrs Lawrence had passed away, she was one of the original Committee members and had been ill for some time. Our aim for the future is as always to keep the Centre running as smoothly as possible however difficult it can be with such a small Committee. We would like to encourage people to use the Centre more and to be a focal point for the Community. Thanks go to all that use the Centre, to the Committee for managing it, to staff for caring for it and to the volunteers who help and anyone else that is involved.
