Objects - Aims.

The aims of the Community Centre are:

To promote, through its activities, the benefit of the inhabitants of Even Swindon and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to ensure the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objects of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.

Review of the year 2020/2021

This year has been extremely challenging with several ‘lockdowns’. Restrictions were put on the type activities that could be held and the number that could attend them. The Library closed temporarily and reopened in April with a ‘Click and Collect’ service, however this was only in operation for a short while and once again it had to close. With restrictions in place we were unable to hold our Annual General Meeting therefore it was left to the Committee to agree the Financial Statement.

The Nursery was the first to reopen and with two weeks closure due to a Covid infection they have been going ever since.

Dancing Classes returned with a limited number in each class, to accommodate the extra classes the Dance School extended their hours. This lasted for a months before another ‘lockdown’ forced them to close again.

Centre Staff worked reduced hours before being put on ‘Furlough’

Annual Report 2020/2021

1

In October one of our longest serving Committee Members Mrs Lawrence resigned due to ill health. We wish her well for the future.

During May Elections for the local Councillors and PCC took place with safety measure in place.

During May we had a new Musical activity take place; it was aimed at Babies and their parent/s.

The Sunday morning Church returned in October with a limited number of 20 in the Congregation, the remaining members viewed the service on Zoom; they were only back for about 2 months before another ‘lockdown’ took place.

Our aim for the future is to come through the ‘Lockdowns’ and various restrictions without losing too many of our regular bookings and activities and be stronger in the future.

Thanks go to the Committee, Caretaker and Cleaner who have managed through a very difficult year.
