TRUSTEES’ REPORT
The Trustees present their annual report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2023.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out on page eight and comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Statement of Recommended Practice for Charities and with the Charity’s governing documents.
The trustees confirm that the charity has complied with the duty in Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission. This report illustrates how the charity delivers public benefit.
Constitution and object
Swinton and District Playing Field Association is constituted under a conveyance and Trust Deed dated 11 November 1991, as amended on 19 May 1998 and is a registered charity number 1006665.
The object of the Charity is to provide sporting and leisure facilities for all sections of the local community.
Organisation
The overall management of the Charity is the responsibility of the Trustees. Day to day operations are managed by a committee of volunteers who report to the Trustees. The principal office of the Charity and names and addresses of relevant organisations are shown on page 2.
Trustees
The Trustees at the date of this report are listed on page 2
Review of the year
Solar panels have been installed this year with the help of a Community Grant from Ryedale District Council. With the increasing rise in electricity prices this will hopefully prove to be a very worth while investment.
The hall and field continue to be well used by the local community. With badminton and five a side football being the main activities in the hall. Swinton FC have two teams using the football pitches over the football season. Again the continuing support and work of the few committee members is very much appreciated as the club could not operate without them. New committee members would be very welcome.
Investment Policy
The Trustees have considered the most appropriate policy for investing funds and have found that the Barclays Business Premium account meets the security of funds and achieves a competitive rate of interest as well as allowing easy access to capital.

Trustees’ Responsibilities in Relation to the Financial Statements

In preparing these financial statements, the Trustees are required to:-
-
Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently
-
Make judgement and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
-
State whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed subject to departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and
-
Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume the Charity will continue in business.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
