Notes on the financial statements for 2022/23
The financial statements for the year to 31 AUg￿$t 2023 show a surplus of £8,679 compared
to a defecit of £1.853 for the preNious year. The main differences between the two years are:
i. Subscriptions were increased for 2022123 from £65 to £85 terni
2. In 2022123 there was an average of 68 members per tertn compared to 48 in the
pre￿iouS year
3. Refreshments at rehearsals were £1,219 in the year, whereas there were no rehearsal
refreshments in 2021122.
4. During the year the Choir received a ￿ of £5,000 from the estate of Judith
Crolnpton, a long-standing member of the choir. We are applying this gift to the
Messiah concert in March where the audienee will have free entry and will be invited
to donate to Alzheilner's R&seArch UK a clwity whieh Judith supported and
volunteered with.
The budget for 2022123 set to achieve a breakeven ￿SItiOn whilst holding two
orchestral eoncerts with soloists in the vear. To achieve this the subscrtptions were
increased. We estimated that there would be 65 tnernbers per tertn and that concert
audiences would of 90 at each concerL Both these estitnates were excceded.
