above.| |||||Our highly valued foster homes again played an important
role this year, stepping| |||||up at short notice and providing asafe haven forthe dogs who needed
urgent| |||||special care.| |||||Our veterinary
costs continue to bea major expense this year. Nle continue to| |||||support dogs requiring
on-going veterinary
treatment
for pre-existing
conditions,| |||||one with epilepsy and several with allergy and skin conditions.
Such conditions| |||||will not be covered by any pet insurance
and so HCBW make arrangements
to| |||||help finance their care.| |||||All vet bills are covered by HCBW for our foster dogs and, where necessary, food| |||||is provided,
especially
ifthe dog requires a specific diet.| |||||During the year we reached out to other charitable or non-profiit
making concerns| |||||to help with extra-ordinary
veterinary
bills for specNc dogs needing
help, making| |||||three donations
totalling f2500. We also made a donation
ofR250to assist an| |||||owner where the insurance
coverage did not stretch to cover full costs. Plus also| |||||helping another owner, both financially
(E262.80)and with advice and support, to| |||||help her young
puppy
with worrying

grateful tothe regular sponsorships
and donations

ofHCBW. Members and supporters
prove themselves
selfless and|| ||||generous,
enabling
us to provide the support tothe dogs in our care, even during|| ||||the difficult times we have all found ourselves
in this year. We are also|indebted| ||||forthe kindness ofthose who remembered
HCBW in their wills through|leaving a| ||||legacy, and to the family and friends of dog lovers who gave donations|in lieu of| ||||flowers in their memory.|| ||||During
normal years HCBW would organise 2 Fun Dog Shows as well as a|| |Other|||Christmas
party.
Unfortunately,
all ofthese had to be cancelled this year due to|| ||||the pandemic
and we have hosted no fund-raising
