Nether Wallop Social Club
Trustees, Report
for the year ended 30 Sep 2022
We are pleased to present our report for the year ended 30 Sep 2022. In accordance with
the Charities Act 2011 the accounts have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis.
Structure, Governance and Objects
The Nether Wallop Social Club was established as a charity by a deed dated IS Oct 1991.
The objects of the Charity are wide but can be sumrnarised as the promotion of any
charitable purpose which is for the benefit of the inhabitants of Nether Wallop and its
neighbourhood.
During the reporting year Mr Richard Osmond stood down as Chairman, being replaced by
Mr Vivian Blandford. The Treasurer role was transferred formally to Mr lain James. Ms
Rosemary Martin-jones became a Trustee on 8 Dec 2021. Mrs Gail Foster resigned as a
TrLAStee and Secretary on 4 Sep 22 and was removed as an authorised s18natory on all bank
accounts.
A new internet based Current Account was opened with Unity Trust Bank. This allows for a
more efficient handling of funds, and obviates the need to use cheques for expenditure. All
four Trustees are authorised signatories, Wlth Unity Bank system requiring a minimum of
two Trustee5 to set up and authorise payments. This is reflected in the Trust Deed and
Regulations. It Is intended that the Lloyds cUr￿nt account will be drawn down and closed
durin8 the next reportin8 period.
Perform•n¢e and Flnan¢lal Revlew
The Trustees met formally 7 times durlng the year12 Nov 2021; 2 Dec 2021; 6 Jan 2022,. 4
Feb 2022, 21 Feb 2022- 29 Mar 2022 and 26 Apr 20221- The significant increase in meetings
over previous years reflects the acceptance of a substantial donation, the chan8e of
Chairman, and the scopin8 and the anticlpated delivery of a major capital project for Nether
Wallop Parish Council.
Income for the year consisted of interest from investments, money raised through
community recycling bin and donations. It should be noted that there was one very large
donation early in the period which significantly increased the Charitrfs cash holdings. Half
of the donation I£1￿,0￿) was moved into an interest bearing account immediately. The
Trustees agreed initially to use around a quarter of this donation as a grant to Nether
Wallop Parish Council to cover the costs of new playground and adult exercise facilitie5 in
the Village. This expenditure fell just after the end of the reporting period. In view of this
significant increase in assets, it was also agreed that in the next financial year the Charity
would look to both increase existing donation streams, and actively to seek new projects.
These will be reported in the next Financial Year.
Further expenditure cornprised the routine funding of "Lifeline" emergency call devices,
around two dozen Christmas gifts in the form of hampers to elderly villagers on their own.
and an individual grant to support the completion of a bathroom for a disabled young

person in Nether Wallop. Four education grants were made to young students. The
trustees agreed to offer financial support to the Wallops "Not on Your Own Club" and our
current intention is to repeat this support in future years.
The large single donation gives the charity an income this period which will require an
Independent examination prior to the accounts being submitted to the Charity Commission.
Statement of Trustees, Responsibllltles
Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year,
which show a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity, and its financial

Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent

the financial statements
Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inapproprlate
to presume that the charity will continue in operation existen

## **Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Nether Wallop Social Club**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Nether Wallop Social Club (the Trust) for the year ended 30[th] September 2022.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
