Chairs report 2025-26
The Centre continues to be extremely well used by the Exminster Pre-school, the village uniformed groups and the Woodcarvers on a weekly basis, although the sad loss of the Exminster Guide unit is noted, it is hoped that this is only a temporary closure. An increasing flow of private party and bookings and community events continue to be held at the Centre, including the annual village firework event.
Trust has its full complement of Trustees and membership has remained stable for the period.
rm control The Trust remains in a healthy financial position with a fi of costs. With no hire rate increase for 3rd consecutive year the Trust has effectively shielded hirees from approximately 17% of RPI price increases over that period.
It has been a year of engagement and discussion with Exminster Parish Council leading to eventual agreement on the outline design of a substantial building project to expand the Deepway Centre, with the project expected to complete in early 2029. Survey, planning and lease costs have already been authorised by the Parish Council
Improvement during the period include the replacement of the Pre School decking area, new lighting in the main hall, replacement of window fittings and repair of storm damage to a wall. Whilst maintaining the building to a good standard, the Trustees are mindful of the upcoming extension and refurbishment project when considering expenditure.
I'd like to record my thanks to my fellow Trustees for volunteering their time and experience, and our Finance and Bookings manager, who keeps the Centre running smoothly on a day to day basis.
