Structure. governance and management

Club 21 was registered as a charity on 14 October 1991.
It is governed by a constitution in which its charitable aims are to:
1. Relieve people with learning disabiLities in the Borough of Poole by the provision of recreational
facilities, including holidays, in the interests of social welfare and with the objective of
improving the conditions of life for such persons.
2. Relieve the poverty of people with learning disabilities in the Borough of Poote who are in
necessitous circumstances.
The charity is managed by its Board of Trustees (Management Committee) which meets at least four
times a year excluding the Annual general meeting. It delegates at least two of its number day-to-day
for provision of its weekly services. Board members are elected by existing trustees with the exception
of the member's representative. who is elected by the membership.
Objectlves and Actlvltleg
Club 21 aims to offer a variety of social and leisure opportunities for people wlth learning disabilities,
enhancing their personal learning, interaction, enjoyment and achievement.
The club provides a twice-weekly programme of social and leisure opportunities for adults with
learning disabilities, enablingthem to meet up with friends on a regular basis at a famlliar venue in
and around Poole.
Family members can have regular breaks from caring and individual now living more independently in
the community can maintain friendships and make new contacts.
Achievements and Performance
Since 2019 Club 21 has taken on a tenancy at The Beehive (part of Diverse Abilities Dorset) in
Alderney, Poole. Both Thursday and Saturday clubs continue to be well-supported and well-received
2 new members were welcomed from the waiting list and 3 new helpers began volunteering during the
year.
The membershlp walting Ilst comprises 12 for Saturday and 4 for Thursday clubs.
Our cLub operates on Thursday evenings from 7- 9pm and Saturdays from 10 til 2pm throughout the
year, only closing for days when other events were organised by the club.

In addition to club meetings, we held 10 events. None of which would have been possible without the
dedication and hard work of the Club's team ofvolunteer helpers and also the generosity of our
supporters.

Risk Asse88ment
The major risks to which the charity is exposed, identified bythe Trustees, have been reviewed and
systems have been established to mitigate those risks. To that end, Club 21 is continually monitoring
and managing its risk, reviewing corporate risks and ensuringaction plans are in place.
Flnanclal Revlew
The charity's policy on reserves is to maintain a positive balance in the bank suff icient to meet
contractual outgoings for six months.
Generous donations and grants were received during the year to the value of £9,982 as follows:
£7,849 Poole Together Club, £500 Mathews Wrightson, £500 Poole Lions, £500 A Massarella, £500
Pavers, £133 from misceLlaneous other donors.
During 2024 receipts totalled £42,575 {2023 £27,913) of which £18,82012023 £14,904) related to holiday
and events leaving a general balance of £23,755 (2023 13,009). Grants and donations totaLled £9,982
(2023 £3,601)
Payments totalled £35,639 {2023 £31,598) of which É27.898 (2023 £24,715) related to holidays and
events leaving £7,741 (2023 £6,883) of general expenditure.
The overall excess of income over expenditure in 2024 was £6,936 (2023 deficit-£3,685)
