The Trustees present their report and Financial statements for the year ended 30th April 2024
STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES RESPONSIBILITIES
Charity law requires the Trustees to prepare statements of accounts for each finan year, which gives a true and fair view of the affairs of the charity and its incoming resources and applications of resources for that period. In preparing those financia statements the Trustees are required:-

select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently;

make judgements and estimates that are responsible and prudent;
-
prepare financial statements on a going concern basis
-
value assets and liabilities in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice Accounting for Charities.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which are sufficient to show and explain the Charities actvities and to disclose with reasonab accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity, and to enable them to en any statement of account comply with the requirements of the Charity (Accounts a Reports) Regulations 1995. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
REFERENCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE DETAILS
The Charity was established by a Deed of Trust dated 18th Februaary 1991. It is a registered charity number 1004278.

The appointment of new Trustees come through recommendation for any existing Trustee and will be ratified by unanimous agreement. The new Trustee would go through an induction period and would likey to have known about the work of Bethany Hospital, Thana, Mumbai and its outreach work in India through a visit.

REVIEW OF THE YEAR
The object of the charity is to provide education, relief of the poor and suffering an provide medical and surgical relief work. The support for this work comes mainly fr Individuals, Churches and Charitable Foundations who have heard of the needs in often receiving verbal reports from the Trustees or Dr Stephen Alfred during his vis In support of this work, legacies and gifts amounting to £96,236 were received during the year. The Trustees continue to be grateful to Dr Alfred and his wife Claire for their tireless and sacrificial leadership and work.
Bethany Hospital is a 200-bed hospital situated in Thane, on the outskirts of Mumb India. It was established in 1997 with a vision to provide quality healthcare, caterin especially to sections of the community who would otherwise find these services b their means.
The hospital currently offers a 24- hour trauma centre with a modular operation th a Philips 1.5 Tesla MRI, a Siemens 64-slice CT scan, critical care units (15 bed ICU, 1 bed ICCU, 7 bedNICU and a 5 bed PICU, a delivery suite, a dialysis unit, and 4 modu state of the art operating theatres and a most advanced Varian Linear Accelerator for Radiation Therapy for cancer. From 2019 the hospital introced the Philips Azuri Cath Lab for advanced cardiac, peripheral and neuro-interventions, including angio angioplasty, TAVI and pacemaker implantation. Bethany Hospital provides a full spectrum of tertiary care, meeting the medical needs of its community.
PALLIATIVE CARE
With its emphasis on a compassionate outreach for the marginalised, pallative care programme included HIV/AIDS through Jeeven Sahara Kendra, vocational training and a children's education project (Uttarakhand), medicval camps (Dolkhambe and tribal hamleyts in Maharashtra ), medical camps and medicine distribution with referrals to hospitals (Uttarakhand), drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in Uttarakhand (NIJAAT) and a special needs centre in Thane (NEEV).
These initiatives have impacted the lives of many thousands of the needy individua by improving helathcare accessibility, enhancing sustainable economic independen fostering a brighter future and advancing community upliftment.
PROJECT SHILOH
With an aging population and rising non-commumicable diseases in India, the need for end-of-life care is significant.To address this need, Project Shilioh to provide specialised palliative care for terminal ill patients.Inaddition the aim is to offer holistic support, including counselling and bereavement services for families. Shilioh would be able to provide end-of-life care services to 26 patients including: Pain and Sympton management, Spiritual and mental health suppprt, advanced care planning for decision making, grief counselling and preparing for bereavement, family suppport and respite care. Hospice services and after death c In it expected that Shiloh will be operational in early 2025.

To the Trustees of Thana Trust
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 30th April 2024 as set out on pages 4 to 6.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity's Trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act"). I report in respect of my examintaion of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 95) (b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1 Accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
2 the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be raeched.
