Annual General Meeting – 13 October 2022 Chair’s Report
Welcome to the PTA AGM for the year 2021 / 2022 and thank you all for your attendance this evening.
I was delighted to lead this PTA in this last year – it has been an amazing year! After the disruption of the previous 2 years, it was lovely to be able to run a full year of events and activities.
Committee 2021/2022

Highlights
We continued to deliver on our 2 main objectives:

To provide fun, memorable experiences for the children
-
To raise funds to support the school
We held a number of large events:

Bushy Bazaar

Obstacle Course
-
Summer Fair
And a number of smaller events:

Penny drive
-
Discos x 3
-
Quiz night
-
Frosty Fridays
-
Refreshments and uniform sales
In a nutshell, we raised over £13,000 in net income last year. Our biggest expenditure was around £10,000 contribution to the trim trail / climbing frame area. I’m sure you’ll agree it looks fantastic and our children love playing on it!
Communication
We aim to be an inclusive and approachable Committee. After some disjointedness in previous years, primarily due to covid, this year we created systems that worked really well to keep everyone up to date and engaged:

We have a Helpers Whatsapp chat

We used designated Class reps were, to provide that crucial link between the committee and the wider group of parents.

We used electronic signup sheets for just about everything that needed volunteers.
-
A mix of online and in person meetings seemed to work well.
The Chairs Role
As you probably know, I am stepping down as Chair of this PTA at this AGM, after 3 years in this role. We will be discussing role changes as part of this evening’s agenda. I encourage you to consider becoming an active member of the committee. Without new members the PTA will not continue. Without a chair, it cannot exist.
I believe this would be to the detriment of our school, our children and our community.
Plus it’s fun! Genuinely. It’s a great way to meet other families at our school and spend time in the school. And my child loves to see me doing bits in the school. She loves to help out too – I really do believe it’s a great way to model social responsibility and giving back to the community.

I will look back on this last year with satisfaction and pride at what we managed to achieve. I would like to thank my committee members for their hard work, and the office staff for their support and all the staff too.
But most of all I would like to thank our many fantastic volunteers for the time they give to help us run our events. From class reps, to helping out of stalls, to uniform sale setteruppers, to Frosty Friday people. You name it – we got it done.
Your help is very much appreciated and without you we simply couldn’t achieve all that we did.
