MYCO Treasurer's Report relating to the ACCOUNTS to July 31% 2025
Overall this year MYCO madea loss of £6,038. Our expenditure also includes a prepayment of £3,665 towards our main show for 2026. We are carrying forward a Fund Balance of £108,231 to the next year. This represents a healthy financial position, given the current prevailing economic situation.
Now that the charity is in a strong financial position, complies with all Charity Commission regulations (including being able to set aside the required level of reserves), we no longer need to accumulate profit. For the 2025/26 period, we will review whether we still need to retain an increased level of funds to cover any unexpected situations given the unpredictability of theatrebased activities costs and income in light of the national economic situation. Consideration of the financial aftershock caused by the pandemic may still be relevant given that insurers are unable to cover any losses incurred due to pandemics going forward. We anticipate that our current fund balance would fully cover our costs for 2025/26 should that need arise.
We will also plan to invest in long-term improvements, including replacing equipment as necessary, as well as continuing our successful outreach programme and bursary scheme. Both of these initiatives further our charitable purposes of making musical theatre accessible to young people from across Oxfordshire.
MYCO's normal main income streams include:
-
Membership subscriptions. This year, we collected fees in May as usual. This resulted in £27,289 to be used for ongoing expenditure. Some payments are made by instalment meaning that several tranches will also be received and used in the next financial year.
-
¢ We received £199 as bank interest.
-
° We received £124 selling soft drinks and crisps at our Open Mic event, which is classified as miscellaneous income in the accounts.
-
Donations and Gift Aid. This amounted to £9,195 this year, including £863 in donations from individual supporters and Friends of MYCO towards our ongoing regular activities. This figure also includes a generous gift from the family of the late Lucy Moss who kindly nominated MYCO to be recipient of her in memoriam donations. We also received £1 ,600 from three charitable grants and claimed £6,732 from Gift Aid, representing a claim on individual donations and membership subscriptions for the past two years.
-
Ticket sales for our shows. We were thrilled to be able to stage a production of ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ at the Oxford Playhouse theatre, and to enjoy truly excellent reviews. We achieved good ticket sales in terms of numbers of tickets sold, raising an income of £46,697, an additional £700 in programme advertising income and £175 for hoodies. We took £540 in respect of deposits for the cost of hiring vocal scores.
-
We also staged two performances of a summer concert at the Amey Theatre which was well received and achieved £7,978 in ticket sales.
MYCO's normal main expenditure includes:
- ° Show costs, including: o venue hire and services o costumes, lighting, sound, equipment, orchestra and sets o rehearsal costs, such as rehearsal venue hire, and pianist fees © expenses to cover travel costs etc for Directors.

-
e Outreach costs: MYCO aims to make our performances, and musical theatre in general, accessible to young people from all backgrounds. This is in line with our charitable objectives. The costs included travel and meal expenses, plus training workshop facilitator fees and venue costs, totalling £947. We also distributed free tickets to schoolchildren both for our main production and for our summer concert. All Outreach costs were covered by charitable grants.
-
Miscellaneous costs, which are covered by three budget lines: o MYCO miscellaneous company costs amounting to £2,272. This expenditure included items such as flowers and gifts for volunteers and helpers, food for an Open Mic evening for the whole company and a contribution towards a well-received production of “Chess’ at the Oxford Playhouse theatre involving many MYCO members.

We would also like to thank the Midcounties Co-op Doing Good Together Fund, the Arnold Clark Community Fund and the Doris Field Charitable Trust for their support for our charitable activities.
