Despite the complete lack of income over the past 12 month, the band’s bank account is very healthy due to being eligible for, and receiving the Welsh Government’s COVID grants, administered by Ceredigion County Council.
On 31[st] March 2021 we had £29,952.74 in the bank and £3.07 in cash (2020 £11,618.19; 2019 £11575.31; 2018 £9160.81; 2017 £7130.88) .
In the year 2020 - 2021 we had an income of £25,256.41 (2019 – 2021 £12,772.03; 2018-2019 £10871.09 ; 20172018 £11998.76 ; 2016 - 2017 £10316.00; 2015 – 2016 £13,806.15; 2014-2015 £6048.28) and an expenditure of £6918.79 (2019-2020 £12,729.15; 2018-2019 £8356.59; 2017 – 2018 £10068.73; 2016 - 2017 £10,456.96; 2015 – 2016 £11,461.57; 2014-2015 £7349.62) giving a net income of £18,337.62 (2019-2020 £42.88; 2018-2019 £2514.50; 2017 – 2018 £1929.93; 2016 – 2017 -£140.96; 2015 – 2016 £2,344.58; 2014-2015 £1301.34).

The year 2020 – 2021 has been a very difficult year for all bands due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The band was not able to meet until September, and then just for a few weeks outdoors.
The band’s income dropped to zero but as the band was eligible for COVID-19 support grants, the band funds remain extremely healthy. These grants totalled £21,000 in 2020 – 2021.
The band is still paying for electricity (£444) and water (£267.58) and has incurred expenses in producing the popular social distancing videos (£933.53). Many thanks to Ivan Anchant and Graham Brand for enabling this to take place. This keeps the band in the eye of the public.
Other expenses include Brass Band England membership (£97.50), instrument insurance (£91), web hosting (£163.99) and bursary (£200).
The band made the decision to offer a grant to all its youth members to be used towards school or private music lessons. 11 families accepted this offer and a total of £1,000 was granted to our young players.

Coronavirus COVID-19 Threat
As everyone is aware, the Covid-19 pandemic has meant a complete closedown of all banding activities since 17th March 2020.
The band has recently restarted outdoor rehearsals, but it is still uncertain whether there will be any summer
season.
The band is able to weather this storm due to the COVID grants.
The band has not put in an application to Aberystwyth Town Council for a grant in the financial year 2021 – 2022.
It is very much hoped that the Brass Extravaganza will return in January 2022.
