ABO Trust is a tharity independent of the Association of Biitish Orthestras but which has as its pfjmaryobjecti￿ the
athyancement of public m￿l£al education. The Chair and Chief ExecutNe of the Association of British Orchestras a
ex-offiao tntstees of ABOTrust. ABO Trust is g￿rned by a Trust Deed dated 25th Marth 1991. NÈW trustees are
appointed to the Board by the cwrrenttrustees and are selecred based upon their experience In the busine55, arts.
education and community settors.
The objects of the Trust shall be the advancement of publlc music educ*lon In geneTrl and in partloJlar11) by
procurin& 5ponsorlng or assistingthe perfomhance of musical works of the hl8hest quality in any part of the United
Klngdom by those British Orchestras, or sertlons thereof, whlth are members of the A$sc￿atIon of British

The prlndpal artivity during the year was to provlde a grant to the Assodatlon of British Orthertras to support its
work in music education, to support training sÈ$51ons for membets ofthe ABO and tosupport the second year of
the AB(Ys PLtbli¢ En8aBement Campaign.
In October 2016 the ABO Trust ￿￿1VEd a donatiori of £2LiIJKL)frcm Diana AmbachÈ ta support the sirens Fund for
or¢FEstTrs perfomiing works by historical Composers over a 10 year period.
In 2024-25, the ABO Trust made awards to the following orchestras: Academy of AntiÈnt Musio BOurr)en￿Uth
Symphony Orchestrd. of Blmhingham Symphony Orchestra. E50 Youth Symphony Orchestra, London
Philharnionic Orthe5tra, London Symphony Orthe5tf3. National Youth Orchestras ofScotland, Philharmonia
Orthe5tra, Royal Liverpool Phllhamlonlc OrchestTr, Royal Phllhamionic Orchestra, ¥infonia Smlth Square, and
Slnfonia Vlva.
In addition, the TrLSt SUPPOrted the ongoing work of the Educatlon and Development ConsultanL Durfn8 2024-5,
the A80 Trust supported the Second year of a Publlc Engagement Campaign developed bythe ABO with its
mÈmber5hip. almlr6to trdnsfomi public perceptlon of dassical muslc and hlghllghtthe positive contrtbution UK
orchestras make to society.

In planning its activitles, the Trustees have given carefiil consider*ion to the Charty CommlsslDn's general guidance
on public benefit.
nancial Review
The ABO Trust continued to deliver on Its objertives. To achleve this, rt continued to draw on Its Investment income
to provide fundin8 for tsJgeted programmes delivered by the ABO. The Trustees also responded to a speclal fLtnding
reque￿ to drdw down some capltsl for the AB￿S Public Engagement Campalgn. In addition. It continued to draw on
the restrlcted income for the Sirens Fund. Due to thè spedal funding request, Its Investments saw a small net
decrease in value during the year, t3kirbS into account withdrawals from the restrirted fund5 for the Sirens
Programme. Its level of Investrnents remaln sufficient to deliver on its objectives in the next financial year.
The irNestments are In funds to ensure that sufficlent Income Is re¢elved In order t) support the oblectlves of the
Trust whllst maintainine the capltal value of those funds.
The Trustees have assessed the finan¢lal posltlon of the ABO Trust and are satlsfied that It remains a going conwn
as the Trust ha5 minimal unavoidable commitments. The Trust holds investments in the M&G which 15 disclDsed at
fair Value in the financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025. The majority of the TTU5Y5 fund5 are
unrestricted, allowinB flexlbility to cover future expenditure. RÈstrirted funds total £28,868 and are expetted to be
utilised in the next financial year. all 8rant makin8 15 di$¢￿tiOnary. future expendlture remains controllable.
Desplts a nèt movement in funds of1£16,860) in 2024125. the Trustees estimate that under current conditlons and
assumptions it could continue supporting its artivities for over 20 yeats. Thi5 estlmate is subjert to potential
changes in policy. operational practice. and external ecunomic clKumstance& In Ilne wlth Its reseryes pollcy. the
Trustses alm to hold free reserve5 at a level sufficient to support contlnued grant maklng to the Association of
Brit15h Orchestras"Company Limited b¥ Guarantee" A5 at 31 March 2025, the reserves held bythe trust will cO￿r
approximatety 103 months of unrestricted expen(fiture. The Tru5tee5 consider this reserve level to be adequate to
ensurè short to medium temi flnancial stability. operational flexibilityi and the continued ￿abIlitY of the Trust.
