workshops, bands, orchestras and choirs

It provides more specialised coaching in
ensemble playing that young people are
usually able to access in schools.
It gives performance opportunities – both in
groups and solos, in both large and small
concert venues.
Where pupils circumstances require financial
support bursaries are available. Some
students complete their ‘volunteering’
element of Duke of Edinburgh Award through
the centre.|

February and March were both amazing
events again, showcasing so many
soloists and providing a unique solo
performance

players.

M4Y was a brilliant experience for our
players. City Youth Orchestra, Swing
Band and City Wind Band really rose to
the occasion and thoroughlyenjoyed the|

feedback.

Gala concert truly rocked the roof off.
Planning for next year – in the new and
different format space of Repton School
Theatre as current venue is becoming
too expensive.

Swing band evening was a great
success. First time since pre-covid that
we have held an event like this for a
single ensemble. True evening of
entertainment. The ‘donations’ received
at the end were happily given and
probably equate to more than we would
have taken if we had charged tickets.

Big Orch day Sunday 11thMay, led by
DMA. This was a collaborative event for
multiple music centres and players
outside centre activities to try out
orchestral
playing
for
a
day
at
intermediate level. There were 58
players attending, including a large
number of DMA intermediate players.
Truly beneficial experience for them and
some are excited at the prospect of
County Senior Orchestra when they are
ready and then City Youth at DMA

Open morning Saturday 4thMay – not
the success we have had in the past.
Possibly because it was earlier in the
summer term and fell on the bank
holiday weekend. The postings to
primary schools had to be done well
before the Easter break, and despite
follow-ups after the easter break, we still
didn’t get the sign-ups from schools.

One to ones – this a new approach
towards how pupils progress through the
ensembles. In an attempt to make the
process more accessible to all, pupils
will have a one to one session with their
conductor rather than a traditional
audition.|

Independent Examiner's Report to the trustees of Derby Music Association I report on the accounts for the year ended 31 July 2025 which are set out on pages 2 to 4.
## Respective responsibilities of the trustees and examiner
As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: ¢ accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or e the accounts do not accord with the accounting records
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
