Chairman’s Report - Hornclife Memorial Hall 6th December 2021
A huge thank you to a hard working and positive committee, who have worked magnificently over this long and difficult time and overcome huge obstacles whilst continuing to run, manage and improve the hall throughout the restrictions.
A special thank you to Eileen who has not only kept our finances in order but has also applied for available grants allowing the hall to retain a very healthy bank balance whilst being unable to function at full capacity during the restrictions.
As the hall becomes busier Eileen’s job has increased massively over previous years, we appreciate all the work involved and are very grateful.
Thank you to Louise, for taking care of all the regulations and restrictions and ensuring that Horncliffe Memorial Hall always complied to each new regulation. Also her many Risk Assessments and directives. Louise made sure we were always up to date and complying within government rules.
Thank you to Debbie for improving our agenda and minutes system so that issues are not overlooked and committee members have a written account after each meeting to refer back to.
Thank to all committee members who help at our many events.
Also a huge thank you to all the people who support the hall and attend our various events and the people out with the committee who are willing to help when called upon.
The lock-down has allowed the committee to continue to improve the hall for the community.
We have received many compliments and approval from groups and individuals.
We have new flooring throughout, beautiful paintwork, a salmon curtain, a purpose built Village Archive Room, a new Chain Bridge Bar and the walls display the work of our talented local artists.
The committee have also managed to continue with limited events, the most ingenious, being our “collect a cake stall” !
The Summer show and Open Gardens went ahead as did The Macmillan coffee morning.
Since going back to normal the clubs are going from strength to strength and organising more extra events themselves. We have more bookings than ever before, including regular live music nights and new clubs choosing to use the hall.
We have had weddings, christenings and retirements using the hall. The cookery demonstration and Veg Shed Cookbook launch was a success.
The Bar Launch evening, opened by John Home Robertson and The fantastic “Salmon City Blues Band” was an excellent evening, with complimentary bubbly from Callerton Kitchens.
Our aim for 2022 is to continue to build on the progress already made.
A comedy performance is already booked for April and more live music and theatre is planned.
We intend to provide a variety of events and entertainment to reach out to all interests and groups within the community as well as visitors.
We hope to continue to make Horncliffe Memorial Hall as accessible as possible, providing a useful and beautiful community asset.
Also to engender a cohesive and happy environment bringing people together in the spirt of cooperation and friendship.

Address: Main Street, Horncliffe, Northumberland TD15 2XW
To whom it may concern the accounts for the year ending November 2021 were checked by myself and found to be correct and in good order.
Future bookings and the healthy balance sheet stand the Hall in good stead to weather any potential problems caused by further COVID 19 restrictions.
