## **Hurst Gospel Hall Trust** ## **Trustees Annual Report 2020** Hurst Gospel Hall Trust are the legal owners of the building and plot of land in Whistley Green Hurst known as Hurst Gospel Hall, a Christian evangelical place of worship, seeking to meet the spiritual needs of both those in the immediate locality, and further afield. Practical assistance is also given to those found to be in need in the locality that have been brought to the attention of believers who meet at the Gospel Hall. Despite the pandemic, 2020 proved to be a very productive year for the Trust, as the planned extension to the building at Hurst Gospel Hall was able to proceed in a very timely manner. Preparations had been made during 2019 to extend the building, with much care and thought being given to the design and layout of the extension. The fellowship at Hurst were fully involved in these discussions as the extension need to meet the perceived requirements of those using the building. The improvements needed to provide a dedicated room for storage, additional classroom / craft room, and also to improve and increase capacity of the toilet facilities, as one of the existing toilets was situated under the stairs, and although fully functional, suffered from restricted headroom. Funding for the project had, in part, been in place by the end of 2019 and all remaining funds were provided in the first half of 2020. The physical construction of the extension was able to commence in the late spring of 2020. This coincided with the first lockdown, when places of worship were closed. This gave rise to some concern, but amazingly, the builder engaged for the project was able to arrange supplies for all needed materials, and was able to proceed with the work in a Covid compliant way during the time that the existing building was closed. Because of this, there was no disruption to the activities at the Gospel Hall, as none were permitted in the building and services were being conducted over Zoom. The builder completed the work by September, as anticipated, and it was found to be of a very good standard and level of finish. All works complied with the local authority planning and building consents. The external finish was so in-keeping with the existing building and it blended in so seamlessly that it was difficult to see where the new extension started. By the time the building was fully completed and made serviceable internally, lockdown requirements had reduced, and some of the normal services were able to resume in the building as from December 2020.
