The trustees present their report and the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 5 April 2022. These financial statements are prepared in accordance with the charity’s trust deed and the recommendations of the Charities Act 2011 and Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice and comply with applicable law.

Structure, Governance and Management

The charity is under the governance of its trustees, as set out on page 1 of the financial statements.

The day to day management of the charity is undertaken by the elected committee members.

Objectives and Activities

The trustees shall apply the income of the charity for the promotion of education in the Ecclesiastical Parish of Swaledale in such ways as the trustees consider appropriate.

When planning the activities for the year, the trustees have considered the Commission’s guidance on public benefit.

Achievements and Performance

The charity achieved its objectives during the year, as set out above.

Financial Review

The overall net deficit for the year has decreased from the previous year. This is predominately due to asset and investment sales being less than asset and investment purchases by £1,399.

Statement of Trustees Responsibilities

The charity trustees are responsible for preparing a trustees’ annual report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards.

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

In accordance with the engagement letter dated 7[th] August 2017, in order to assist you to fulfil your duties under the Charities Act 2011, we have prepared for your approval the financial statements of Muker Educational Trust for the year ended 5 April 2022 as set out on pages 4 to 5 from the charity’s accounting records and from information and explanations you have given to us.

As a practising member firm of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), we are subject to its ethical and other professional requirements which are detailed at www.icaew.com/en/members/regulations-standards-and-guidance/.

This report is made solely to the Board of Trustees of the charity, as a body, in accordance with the terms of our engagement. Our work has been undertaken solely to prepare for your approval the financial statements of Muker Educational Trust, and state those matters that we have agreed to state to them, as a body, in this report in accordance with ICAEW Technical Release 08/16AAF as detailed at icaew.com/compilation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charity and its Board of Trustees, as a body, for our work or for this report.

You have approved the financial information for the year and have acknowledged your responsibility for it, for the appropriateness of the financial reporting framework adopted and for providing all information and explanations necessary for its compilation.
