Chair’s Report 2021/21
After two strange years, the Village Hall is now returning to some form of normality. Almost all of our regular groups are back and we are hosting a good number of private bookings. Our Christmas Fair was a great success; our CVH 100 Club has 101 members; and our monthly Coffee Shop is proving very popular. Thank you to all the organisers for successfully getting community activities up and running again.
My thanks, as always, to the members of CVH management committee for all your hard work and support. This year saw the retirement of Sheila Freeman, thank you Sheila for all your efforts over many years. Sadly, the sudden death of Bruce Crawcour came as great shock to us all. Bruce had been central to our development plan through his work in obtaining substantial grants and working with our architect and builders. He had only recent gained £90,000 in grants to go towards our final stage of redevelopment. Without his commitment and determination, we would not have seen the recent improvements we have had at the Village Hall.
With the support of the village community and Clive Parish Council we have been awarded £75,000 from the Veolia Environmental Trust and £15,000 from Shropshire Council. This together with funds from our development account will enable us to begin the remaining phase - the refurbishment of the main hall. We are currently working on the final details and hope to start work this summer.
As well as the completion of our development plan, this coming year will see the Village Hall taking part in Clive & Grinshill’s Queen’s Jubilee Celebration and the continued return of activities after two years of the Covid pandemic. To ensure that the Village Hall remains a key part of community we do need the support of volunteers. Whether as committee members, helpers at events, helping in the garden or on the cleaning rota.
